...or "that weird thing they found at the bottom of the lake."

6 die from brain-eating amoeba in lakes

PHOENIX - It sounds like science fiction but it's true: A killer amoeba living in lakes enters the body through the nose and attacks the brain where it feeds until you die.

Even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare, it's killed six boys and young men this year. The spike in cases has health officials concerned, and they are predicting more cases in the future.

"This is definitely something we need to track," said Michael Beach, a specialist in recreational waterborne illnesses for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I told, George W, to stay out of the lake, but he wouldn't listen!

Jeeze, ya thats a rough 1. Im glad that does not happen to often, it wont deter me from swimming in the lake by my house because its a great lake, but I suppose anything can happen.

When camping at least a few times in the past I have had to rely on water from the environment, sometimes i truly trusted the source and had no problem collecting and drinking it right their, but if you are not 100% certain that water is good definatly boil it and filter it out the best you can!

With the way people are in the US, you'd think the poor things would starve to death.

Well, what the heck were these people doing eating the brains of amoeba in a lake? They teach you in charm school that you should always brain-eat amoebas only in quicksand. Morons. :P
