Do you ever have a distaste of consumerism? I do, but mildly so. I don't like brand names, trade marks or logos. I also wish not to have those things on my clothing and prefer the idea of owning my own stuff (instead owing interest on it) and not having someone else's name on it. I plan on going into law but wish to get the "crappiest" car I can (as long as it works), buy clothes from Good Will (except for business), live in a two-bedroom house or apartment, and own only a few pieces of used furniture.

Anyway, what's your view?

I don't consume much. I've never been a big shopper. I find what I want before I go out and buy it. Comsumerism is pretty revolting, but I can't say I've never done it before.

Why not? Buy a big flat-screen tv on a loan so you can watch all those commericials to go buy more stuff you don't need and buy on impulse.
But I sure am glad that intelligence grants immunity. And many companies have made their fortunes of the fact that Americans are dumb, fat thoughtless consumers. And with that money they made they can buy votes for corrupt politicians who in turn will grant them stuff like lenghtening patent licenses so they can continue making more money.
