I dont really have a problem with the bleeping system they have going on here, it may be good if theres a very young user whos too immature to be taught what they are.. Other than that I dont see why anyone should care at all. They are typically used either as a joke, or in a way that describes something in the "extreme". There is nothing wrong with either of those things.

Aside from the fact that there are in fact young children on this forum...

I'm all for spitting a few out when you stub your toe or something similar in person, but there shouldn't be a need to swear on any forum. Take a moment to think about your anger & form it into coherent words & sentences. If all anyone has to say is a vulgar obscenity then they shouldn't say anything - course that is just my opinion.

Did you honestly come here (or anywhere online) in hopes of doing so? Full armies have yet to gain so much control over the planet. Some things you have to just live & let live. Don't stress yourself over it, it isn't worth the pain - you'll only end up with an ulcer or worse. Turn it around, try & find the good in people instead of looking at the negative.

Swearing can be used for emphasis. Could other words be substituted? Sure, but does it really matter?

Curse words only have as much power as one gives to them.

With the way the word filter is set up here, one can guess with little difficulty what the "censored" word is. If the words were completely blocked out, all *s without any letters, it might be more difficult, and any kids that were on the site would only know that a "bad" word had been used...unless they are already aware of what might have been censored. If anyone has a huge issue with such words being used, you would probably have more success requesting a modification to the wordfilter than a "rule" that the words not be used at all.

QFT.

A lot of the words around here seemed to be used solely for the purposes of insulting others, which is childish and aggravating. In extreme situations, it can be all right, but other than that, it tends to be vulgar. I'm not saying that swearing is inherently bad - if you wish to swear amongst your friends, then fine; I don't care - but swearing in front of everyone, on a daily basis, especially when trying to insult someone else is not a good thing.

And there are a few young children here; they must be considered as well. In the adult board, it wouldn't be such a concern, but in other boards, especially random, it is.

Occasional swearing? It doesn't offend me personally, but others? I don't know. I would not want to see excessive swearing in every other post of course, but I have nothing against swearing.

I don't see a problem with using swears occasionally for emphasis or out of anger. Jokes with profanity and dirty talk just for the sake of it should only be tolerated in the adult forums though. Moderation is the key.

I know when I was a younger kid I found it unnerving when older people swore excessively in front of me. Accurate or not, it gave me the impression that those people were mean, crude, and scary. I think we should all just be mindful that some younger people here might not have had exposure to profanity and it might give off the wrong vibes. I wouldn't want this forum to appear uninviting to kids.
