No way in hell am I going to be Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Besides, the book was way better than that oversexed crap Kubrick made.

Don't hold back, tell us what ya really think!

I will grant you that the book was far superior to the movie.

Far superior is an understatement. For one thing, the Cat Lady's house wasn't full of rather sexual artwork (neither was the Korova Milkbar, for that matter), and Alex stoved her head in with a bust of Beethoven instead of a gigantic phallus. And don't get me started on Singing in the Rain.

Kubrick also omitted the final chapter of the book, supposedly because it hadn't been in American editions, but he had been made aware of it by Anthony Burgess. It shows Alex growing out of his street hoodlum tendencies, and considering having a family after he meets one of his old gang who has been married.

Don't get me started on Kubrick. He gets props for recognising that sound effects do not travel through vacuum (2001: A Space Odyssey), but even then, I wonder how much of the accuracy in scientific depiction in that film was Arthur C's influence.

(clears throat) So, how 'bout that Melbourne Cup, then, eh? :)

Oh, and what is it now, 19 posts to go?

Put $1 each for a win and a place for Purple Cloud. Only got $1.80 back. Might've just thrown 20 cents away....

Thanks for your contribution, richard. The Tenth Doctor and "Morons" are tied for first place, and Daniel Craig as James Bond is just behind.
