I have avoided joining MySpace, but I'm curious about it:
Did the people in a person's "friends list" ask the account holder to add them, or were they invited to join? Or does it work both of those ways?

It goes both ways.

Though on mine, very few of them asked me first. I usually have to make requests myself.

Uggggg! Someone forged my nickname on a myspace account, and at least one of the "friends" listed is someone that I don't want to be associated with (yet viewers might think that I do). Thanks for the info, Beau99.

Most of the time, I was invited by other friends (mostly people from high school), but I have done the inviting on occasion.
