In a twist of irony,
I grew up desiring to have a girl's body, but destined to have a very male body. Nothing androgynous here.
I never really wanted to be boy or girl inside... just me.
But outside...

Now... I'm thinking it through on a more critical level which is better than how I used to think.

I'm sure I'll have the answer soon! :P

I don't know which gender I'd prefer. I think society places too much emphasis on sexuality anyway.

As long as we're speaking in fictitious hypotheticals, I would like to genetically engineer a third gender, and then live as that. I wouldn't be able to reproduce, but at least nobody would tell me "You have to take it like a man!" or "A woman should know her place." I don't know what anatomical configuration of this fictional gender would have: maybe just something that never has periods or wet dreams.

(Okay, admittedly, I wouldn't want to live like that, because then EVERYONE would think I'm weird, and nobody would know how to treat me, but it's a fun idea tho.)

Just to be clear and help others to understand...

Gender is NOT the same as sexuality.

When I was trying to describe what I was dealing with to other people who didn't understand the difference, they always took the conversation straight to sexuality.

In a nutshell... feminine and masculine are gender terms. Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Straight/Asexual... are all sexuality terms.

One deals with how they believe themselves to be relating to gender... male/female/androgynous... the other deals specifically with sexual attraction/action.

:D

I agree with you that society places too much inhibition on human relations [u]and[/b] identity as well.

Sometimes I think I'd make a better woman than a man. Maybe I'd get less flack for my shy ways and odd interests. I'm naturally stay very slim like a skinny teenager and this does nothing to garner any respect and makes me look meek... however I realize most girls starve and punish themselves to try and get this thin. I always thought it was somewhat ironic that I can stay like this with no effort.
I like cooking, doing household chores... I wouldn't mind being a stay at home guy.

Well too late for that anyway.

Wot an odd question??

Do you mean if we asked someone to make us female, they'd wave a magic wand over us Harry-Potter-style and POOF ??

Or do you mean would we have preferred to grown up female??

Or would we want some weirdo to mutilate our physigomy??

When I was a lad, my mum told me she had picked out a girl's name for me while she was pregnant. She'd had two sons already, and wanted me to be a girl. Made me skin crawl, it did....
Funny thing about boy's names as opposed to girl's names, rarely do girls get beaten up because they have a funny name....

I don't think I'd like to be a woman, but I'd like the freedom to choose. Oh well, maybe in 500 years time.

Even though my life story matched almost everything other 'transgendered' people said about their lives(actually sometimes it did match exactly), I have never had a feeling of being 'male' or 'female' in the same sense I understand other people have.

It's hard to explain.
I just know what it feels like to be me... inside... but the outside was what I felt conflicted about.

So I would not want to change my personality, and I'm holding off lately on claiming I want to change myself physically.
I just went to a potluck our local transgender group holds each month.
Everyone else was either in stages of transition or were already done... physically... that is.

I was actually looking like I stepped back... what with the beard and all.

I found it interesting that I was not uncomfortable, as in, I might not belong with them anymore.
Yet, as I look deeper at myself and really work at understanding what drives some of the things I feel and think, I believe I am finding out that my childhood was pretty messy.

It is so nice to be able to speak openly about all this and not feel the shame and fear I used to feel...
and this from a former Harley biker... greasy hair, nasty beard, bad attitude and all.

I think it's too easy for guys to weigh this matter as either... be a male... or be a female... when there's more to it than that.

Western men (since I have never lived in Asia, the Middle East, etc.) have some real hangups about what comprises their masculinity and how to feel/what to do whenever a supposed 'feminine' trait or feeling arise within them.

Lots of blathering...

Just for a bit of fun, an interesting stroll in another world perhaps, or for the education of it all...

visit --->SkirtCafe<---
sometime.

It's a great place for men who enjoy wearing skirts for any number of reasons... oh... and for women who support these men.

It's not about drag-queens, or crossdresser's. It is specifically about men who wish to be seen as men whether they are wearing bifurcated garments (pants, shorts), or MUGS (men's unbifurcated garments- skirts). :D

absolutley not. women are to wishywashy to begin with, plus if i had boobs i'd probably chop them off and wear clothes that were comfortable and not tight. dont even get me started on monthy bleeding, i'd flipout if that happend to me and would remove whatever caused the bleeding surgically
