Have any of you heard of this so called "game"?...or tried it!

I just read about it today as I heard someone talking about it and wanted to find out what it was!...I honestly can't believe that someone would do this.
Choking yourself just to get a "rush"...I think recreational drugs are safer! The stupidity of some people is unbelieveable!

What is you opinion on this?

If you haven't heard of the "game"...here is an article about it...

I knew people who used to play "flatliners", also called "voodoo" and "black magic". :) They did it to see how long it would take to pass out.

Back when I was a kid, professional wrestling was a bit different than now, but the choke-hold was a popular method of subduing your opponent.
As kids, we experimented with this but only because we were emulating what we saw on t.v.

When I worked for El Paso E.M.S. we had an FBI agent give us a talk on auto-eroticism.
One of the favorite methods was to pretend to hang someone until they passed out. The object was to climax before passing out... it was supposed to heighten the sexual feelings.
I never tried it... wouldn't try it.

Closest I have ever come to anything concerning this physiological process was breath-hold diving (I only did it in the pool though).

I've heard of it but not done it. I do hold my breath for long periods, partly as a form of self-harm. The last time, I got past 5 minutes.

The "choking game" is NOT a game to play...many young people have killed themselves unintentionally trying to get a thrill from the momentary lack of oxygen that choking causes. IT IS A GAME WITH DEADLY CONSEQUENCES!

Why can't more young people engage in community activities by helping other people (visit a nursing home, tutor children with
their homework, do volunteer work at a Boys/Girls Club, etc) which results in a better feeling of happiness and satisfaction with
themselves?

Here's a hint, your brain LIKES oxygen.

Statistically it has been proved that the last words of many thousands of people are "Hey Bubba, watch this". Darwin in action folks.

I have a horrible phobia of choking, so I would never engage in such an activity.

There's also one thing people don't realise. If this game involves a sort of manual strangulation or throttling, it can cause vagal reflex overload. Basically, pressure on the throat send signals from the vagus nerve that can lead to signals being sent to the heart to make it stop.

back in high school, i saw a couple friends of mine do this... one of them squeezed the other until he passed out.. then layed him on the floor... after a second, he went into convolsions and then woke up.. not remembering having passed out. but he said he felt really awake. it was popular at my school for that reason.. people use to do it in the bathrooms in the morning to help them wake up... but i thought it was really dangerous... wasn't until later that the statistics came out and they were talking about people dying... so the fad kinda faded out. (at least at my school)

What kind of idiotic school did you attend?

Choking isn't a game unless you're hung by a leather belt and masturbating ala Michael Hutch... oh right, he died, sorry. Not a game.

trying to remember his name but a few years ago a British Member of Parliment died in an auto-aphysixia accident.

Bit of a scandel as he dressed in stockings with an orange in his mouth at the time!
