Aaron, if this is true, there must be a Great Cat God - lol

Dwight Nelson (who ever he is?) wrote:
Dwight Nelson recently told a true story about the pastor of his church.
He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.
That's what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car.
He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten.
But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke.

The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air -out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No.
Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business. A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. This woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?"
She replied, "You won't believe this," and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing.
Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, "Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it." she told the pastor, "I watched my child goes out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her."

Never underestimate the Power of God and His unique sense of humor!

Hey, has anyone else heard that cats survive falls only if its between like 0 and 90 feet or 120 and up? I have no idea how this odd fact came about, and I've always wanted to see if its true. I admit it makes little sense, and I think I was drunk when I heard it. Good image, tho...

That's a cute story, especially good for Christians and Jews. I'd never thought of God having a sense of humour...

Nice story, but it seems a little far-fetched (even for a Christian like me).

I can vouch for cats appearing from nowhere. I came home one day to see
a cat sitting at my bedroom window. It turned out it belonged to a neighbour
and must have nipped in to the wrong house while the door was open and no-one
was looking.I'm glad I saw it from outside otherwise I might have been oblivious
to it behind the bedroom curtain, ready to pounce and give me a heart attack !

really? i am POSITIVE god has a tremendous sense of humor, but then, i pay attention more than most people.

but i don't think it really matters if this particular story is TRUE. it's still funny and a good story.

here is my cat story. and I know it is true, but you don't have to believe me:

so i have had my sphynx cat, Sagira, for about 2 years now. and she is awesome and i love her and she cheers me up quite a bit. but my family and other people gave me a lot of flak for buying her because she cost $1200, and they argued that i could love a FREE cat just as much, and i could not afford her. which, it was true that i could not afford her. but for some reason i just felt really strongly about getting a sphynx... so i got her and never regreted it.

then about 2 months ago, i was writing, and started to think about Sagira, and she came and jumped on my lap, and so i started typing about her and how i always wanted a sphynx ever since i was little because i had/have a memory of being about 4 or 5 and looking at a cat book of all different kinds of cats and my favorite picture was the sphynx. and so i whisped out loud, "thanks 5 year old Manda! You must have known somehow that i really needed a Sagira!"

And my vision actually SWAM just like i was in a book or a movie.

and i stopped breathing because it was so weird and the memory? vision? of myself at 5 came in to my head with such clarity... and then went past where it had stopped before.

and i saw myself sit there at five, all sprawled out on the floor and i put my finger on the picture and say out loud, "i know i really need this cat. hey! future Amanda! you better remember to get us a sphynx cat because i think it might be very important!" and i sat there for about five minutes chanting messages to my future self. and then my mom called me into the kitchen for something... and then when i was in the kitchen i remember thinking-- hey, i wonder how i knew to send that message to myself. maybe my future self sent it to me first. or even the sphynx kitty, because it is probably up in heaven still and not born yet, so maybe it knows it wants to be my friend... and then i got on a whole chicken/egg train of thought, and eventually forgot about it.

so anyway, it was very surreal to send a message to my childhood self and then remember suddenly doing the same thing back then to my future self. i suppose it's the kind of thing that sounds very dumb on paper, but was a very big deal to me to actually have happen, and have Sagira LOOK at me and give a little Meow.

so for WHATEVER reason i felt strongly about getting Sagira, thanks Great Cat God, or just God, because i very much appreciate her being in my life! :)

will have to get back on this one-there is a bit in one of old cat world magazines about the heights cats can survive from.

cats are not from god, they probably are gods, they command people around, they can get people to do whatever they want, people worship them......=god.

The story may be apocryphal, but I have had many cats just show up at my house. All of my current nine have come to me in some way.
