The reason why I asked whether it was uncut was that it just looked like reddish rock to me. But I only briefly flirted with geology.

Amazing! Are they from Africa? There is one on this forum (he's new) that is a geology student at my University (Fairbanks). He LOVES rocks. Richard, maybe you should meet up on the forum with him - mutual obsession. His username: CGKings317

I bet he'd like to see your collection.

Damn, I'm speechless (literally).

I've stayed at Little America a few times, once when the gem show up there was going on. I'm kicking myself for not buying anything then.

I really need to head back up there one of these days...

That's awesome. My dad used to collect rare rocks and things like that too. It's not ruby, but it's along the same lines.

my mom would probably want to buy that ruby off of you richardbenson if she was still here, reason: her obcession is ruby's and jewelry got to point were she would take a cab to downtown and drop in and talk abouut jewelry all day at the jewelry stores

she was born in july so yea ruby is her birthstone as well.

careful if you ever do meet my mom, she might force a lesson on you about kts(karets)
