When you die...do you want to be burried or cremated?? and why??

I personally would want to be preserved and then when cloning can be done...for my body to be cloned. Kind of like Austin Powers.

I can't stand the thought of either being burn't into dust...or a maggots dinner.

If I had to chose between the two though and there was absolutely no other option, I would chose cremated.

Hm. I think, personally, I just love the idea of being a skeleton. The maggots and the course of time can take care of the flesh and I'll be all bones. That's what I want. So to be cremated would be an insult to my wishes. Heh.

Take whatever organs might be useful for donation purposes and then cremate the rest. Scatter my ashes on the hills overlooking Budapest as Hungary is now home.

No grave, no memorial as I'm nothing special.

wow, surprisingly original stuff about body disposal. Thanks for thread and links.

Me, i'd go with organ donation where possible, followed by use of the rest as fertiliser on organic farm or woodlands. I too like the idea of being as fine and ivory white as a skeleton sometime; bones are beautiful.

I like it. I loathe an idea of wasting things (in this case organs of body) which putrify in coffin with other earthly remains of their owner instead of being used to transplantations.

What's your favourite bone? (... assuming that you have one. otherwise, do ignore.)

The bones of the skull.
The ball joints of the thigh bones and upper arm bones, not so much the rest of them tho.
The pelvis too, definitely.
The collar bones .
Too difficult to choose :?

What is yours?

I agree burial is stupid...however, I'll probably never get to be part of any scientific research.

My plan is, well I'd like to be executed. Guillotine. Then have my rotting corpse left out where every one can view it

I like the collar bones as well, in particular the tip of it jutting out to the side. I like holding my shoulder because I can feel the bones under the skin so clearly. I also find it interesting to test how much water I can gather in the dip between the clavicle and neck muscles. I also like the cervical vertebrae.

I want to be cremated. To me it's the ultimate release. It speeds up the whole decaying process and allows my ashes to be returned to dust the soonest. And it costs less than a fancy casket and grave, they can skip the embalming to as far as I'm concerned.

If they could do it on a pyre I would like that, but the crematorium will do.

Definitely cremated. Why waste beautiful land for a corpse? If my daughter feels different, she can do whatever she wants, she can dress my dead body in a balerina outfit and keep me in the freezer...I am just talking crazy...sorry...but I really think it is irrelevant what happens with my corpse, it should not be a burden to anyone.
