I am considering moving to Australia but mainly on reasons about the place and not the people (I've seen in pictures that it is beautiful, I love Australia birds, I like warm weather, etc.) Would some native Australians give me some perspective as to what it is like politically, culturally and religiously? Not demographics (I can look that up myself) but first hand experience please.

PS: other is for non-Australians to vote so they may see the results.

I've never been to Australia, but the Australians that I've met have been good, fun-loving people who love to travel, and who maybe drink too much beer.

Thanks for the link. I'm unfamiliar with the naturalization process, is getting a visa the first step in becoming a citizen or is it more like becoming a resident alien?

Any Australians who could tell me what they like and don't like about their country?

I'm serious. I'll even take TCO's input on the matter.

How funny that so far 100 percent of voters have voted "other," meaning they must not be Australian (me included). LOL.

Anyway, I'm interested to hear people's responses here too, because I've also been thinking of moving to Australia someday...

You might also consider New Zealand. People who have visited both Australia and New Zealand have remarked that New Zealand has a lot more natural beauty.

Of course, Australia has the Wiggles, Tripod, and Kevin Bloody Wilson

Hope you have more success learning Russian than I did. (When I was 10 I had a major fixation on the place.) What do you think of former premier Mikael Gorbachev? I thought he was awesome!

A lot of previous geologic activity, mountains included but not limited to.

There's a bus driver I know whose from New Zealand. She would probably agree with that, but there is still a lot of volcanic activity happening.

by time he got there the Union was a mess
Khrushchev messed everything up!
to get things done, the man you had to call was Stalin, as f****d in the head as he was.
they owned like half the world under his command
thats no small feat

Lenin was also a great idealist...unfortunitely Russia was never a place that should have had communism...
it was too destitute and poor.
