If you could go on a road trip anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would like to travel on U.S. 50 in Nevada. The segment between Carson City and Ely has the distinction of being the "loneliest road in America". There is supposedly a 300-mile stretch that is completely devoid of gas stations and restaurants. It is common to not see any oncoming traffic (it's a 2-lane highway), and except for some old forts that are in ruins (U.S. 50 pretty much overlaps the old Pony Express trail) and some ghost towns, the only man-made structures are maybe some telephone poles.
In either Ely or Carson City, you can get a worksheet, and if you see all the sights on the worksheet (you must have proof of visit stamped on the worksheet), you get a T-shirt that says "I survived the Loneliest Road in America", and a signed certificate from the governor of Nevada.
