I live in Alaska and gas is currently $3.06 a gallon. More the further you get out of town.

Please say what state/country you live in if you don't mind as I'm curious as to where its most expensive/cheapest.

What's a gallon?

We use sensible measurements here.

1 litre of pure water will fit in a cube 10cm on each side, weigh 1kg, boil at 100C and turn from ice to water at 0C.

1 litre of petrol costs almost £1. I remember when it was 69p (about the time unleaded was introduced).

The equivalent of $8.08 per gallon.

No, I'm not kidding. http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/gas1.html

It costs more. It's about £1.05 a litre. I estimate that petrol (or 'gas') in Britain is about $7.94 a gallon.

It's around $1.30 AU a liter here (Oz), I know for I'm the magic fuel fairy who fills the car up.

O, and yes, I do use my fingers to point out which pump # it is; three fingers for #3.

Here in orkney it costs the equivalent of $8.86 per gallon. All the more poignant as we have an Oil Terminal here!

Here in Denmark, the prices are somewhere around the equivalent of 7.30 US$ per US gallon for 95 octane. The prices may bob up and down slightly, but curiously the difference between the prices for 95 and 92 octane seem to be a constant; equivalent to about five cents per gallon.

I paid $3.04 per gallon yesterday near Warwick, RI, but I went to the full-service place--other gas stations around here are charging $2.99/gallon for the cheap stuff.

1,36 euro / litre

in US that would be:
6,94 dollar /gallon

Americans should never complain again about fuel prices.... :D
(probably incomes are higher in Europe too)

I live in Oswego NY USA and 3 days ago I filled up my car at $3.24 a gal

Thats 3.785 liters worth of gas here for $3.24 or $0.87 a liter.

If I spend $3.24 for a gallon of gas in NY USA, then I am spending in euros 2.26 a gal.

If I was to buy a liter of gas in NY USA I spend $0.87, in euros for 1 liter I spend 0.61.
