On a very personal scale, a refrigerator is the center of the universe. On the inside is food necessary for life and on the outside
is a chronicle of current events of the household...not found on television or in the daily newspaper. Even an important art gallery can be found on a refrigerator...a collection of crayon drawings, collages and paintings that come home from school on a
continual basis.
Grocery lists, urgent bills, message reminders, photographs, magnets, photographs, words of wisdom, family schedules...all stuck to the outside of the refrigerator door.

When you no longer have art displayed on the refrigerator door, it means something is over...your children have grown up. Years later, the artwork will appear again meaning your children now have children. Grandparents love to display refrigerator art.

But, what if you have nothing on your refrigerator...what does that say about you? It means you are a very nice person who has
carried neatness in the kitchen to the extreme...one step further than the Good Housingkeeping Seal of Approval requires.

The iPod magnets that came with my iPod or my MacBook.... can't remember, about 9 magnets of various types.
A paper on a house that has sold already (getting rid of that today now that you reminded me of it), two pictures from Father & Daugther Day when my daughter was in Girl Scouts, our two lift tickets for Mt. Shasta which I hope we'll be using in the next week!

That's it.

On top I have a couple of tins, the dry eraser and board for notes, a box of matches, a box of hot cereal(Farina).

Just don't ask what I have stacked on all the other surfaces in my kitchen/dining room... I don't think Alex has the bandwidth for me to list everything

At school, mostly coupons for pizza.

at home, magnets.

nothing. but because i avoid the fridge (and kitchen) as much as possible, as the electrical noise it makes and the sound of its engine running bothers me.

You can almost tell if a house is really "lived" in by looking at the fridge.

"The monster" is going on 25 years old, it's called "the monster", because it gurgles, and knocks and makes all sorts of noises (it did the same when it was new) and occasionally once a year or so a tube clogs in back and it pees all over my floor at night ...the paint is scuffed from peeling off a zillion stickers from when my son was 2 (it was a better alternative than the end tables, and he had a blast decorating it for the different holidays) ...when he was 3 going on to 5 it was covered in magnets, letter magnets, color magnets, weird magnets...we still like magnets, and seem to be always picking up a few when they catch our attention.

We have kitty pictures, school pictures of my son...handprint magnets he made in school...a gold paw print sticker that's covering a paint chip...his beautiful Christmas tree (also made in school), and misc reminders for the mom who forgets things.

Usually it's covered, I just cleaned off the Halloween decorations so we would have room for Christmas.
