Heavy sleeper usually.

Do you typically stay up late at night, or wake up early in the morning?

I'm always awake early. I hear the dawn chorus of magpies, butcherbirds and kookaburras.

On your scones, is it:
(a) jam first, then cream OR
(b) cream first, then jam?

I only put butter on my scones. I've not yet graduated to jam or cream.

How many miles from your home would you travel in an average week?

My house is at least 2.2km away from my workplace.
And I usually work 6 days a week.

If I would I would go twice or trice as further.

Same question.

A typical week? 0 or close to it, apart from walking my dog.

Partner is about 25 miles round trip.
Mother is about 8 miles round trip x a few trips per week.

I do all shopping online.

*I just googled "mother's house" to see how far it was lol
Have yet to figure out how online maps work

same q

What do you feel will be the next innovation in science?

I find this really difficult to answer because all of the innovations I can think of are already being researched and developed. I guess that's why I'm not an innovator.

I really hope we can come up with something that allows a rapid, cheap movement away from fossil fuels so our children can have some sort of hope that the future won't just be a hellscape of extreme weather and resource wars. I think everything should be focussed on that at the moment, everything else can wait.

Can you throw accurately?

I must need new glasses.
I thought you asked if I could screw accurately.

I'm better at screwing than throwing.

I’m really bad at sports. I like to take long walks in the woods amidst the elves and fairies instead.

What’s your favorite 19th century novel?

It’s IMPOSSIBLE for me to choose just one.

I don't know much about novels from the 19th century. The only thing I can think of is the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Same question.

Villette for the story, and the psychology of autism / trauma

I wish I had a first edition copy.

Wuthering Heights for narrative structure and critical analysis

The Picture of Dorian Gray for philosophy.

Runners Up:
Hester, Margaret Oliphant for character
The Portrait of a Lady, Henry James for "I love this book", and character

Pierre Menard, the Author of the Quixote by Jorge Luis Borges
Victory Lap and Fox 8 by George Saunders
With the Beatles by Murakami
Fup by Jim Dodge
The Nose by Gogol
The Whalestoe Letters by Mark Z. Danielewski

Same q, then.

I love the deep forest. It’s where my kin - the fairies - live.

Who’s your favorite poet?

I LOVE Tennyson. The Lady of Shalott is my FAVORITE poem.
