Yeah, may as well jump on to the bandwagon :P

Oirish people (and Australians/Americans with great-great grandmothers from county Cork etc...) and people who vaguely want to visit the place at some stage... or own Irish setters etc... welcome!

So, any thoughts on the Emerald Isle?

"to show with one satiric touch
No nation wanted it so much" <--- words of Jonathan Swift about his bequest of a lunatic asylum to the Irish people

"This is one race of people for whom psychoanalysis is of no use whatsoever." <--- Sigmund Freud

Oh, sorry. I'm British. Am I disqualified?

I fancy flying into Northern Ireland, doing stuff round there and then hopping across the border to see County Donegal and the west coast. My mum has already seen Dublin and to all intents and purposes it looks like a toilet.

Well, I have to say it represents my home, my heritage, and generally who I am :)

Obviously she was on the southside, in or around Dublin 4!

She was in the city centre. She said it was Spot the Irishman. It looks pretentious and expensive. Other parts of the country look nice though.

Well yes, the big spike does make it look a little tacky, but it's not that bad...

Ugh, don't get me started on the spike... how on earth is that art?!? Mind you, it's a useful landmark if you're lost...

I hope to make it to Ireland some day. I am 1/4 Irish, but many of my traits come from that portion of my Mom's family. A smaller percentage is from my 1/2 German DNA. The 1/8 Scottish and 1/8 English have little visible impact on my traits.
