i have seen this footage in high school, thanks to aspergers syndrome the creative design/woodshop teacher's main interest was bridges, he had us for like 2 days (various films on bridges) for like 2 and half hours analysing what happened and WHY it happened.
the year before i took the course, he would hire a school bus to go around all the county so he and students can stop and take a look at the structure of EVERY bridge in the county(would probably be illegal or too suspicious looking today)
this bridge i was told because of the deck portion of bridge was not able to support cross winds (if you go under a bridge now you will notice vents or triangle gerters under roadbed area (to allow air to pass through) and the use of what are called gussit plates for strength of gerters.
