I think that the world is getting worse at the moment, with the wars, global warming and spoiled teens who think that they're gangsters and models. I think that it will get better. things will get worse, before they get better, but things will improve a lot, in the end.

tell me why this is the land of confusion

Teens who think they are gangsters and models...they are all superficial.
I agree...the world is getting worse.
Global warming is getting worse because WE HUMANS are making it happen! The wars...well I don't even know why people bother to have them. They seem pointless to me.

All this talk about how the world is ending certainly isn't helping matters.

I feel we as the human race are moving in the wrong direction. We should be uniting the nations of the world, making peace with enemies, slowing down our economyies and consumption, we should be working to be more efficent, less wastefull, more concerned about seriously doing something for the environment other then just a few token actions (especally the US and not sighning into the Koyoto treaty). We should be working diplomatically rather then with military force.

Unfortunatly with war, still too much human impact on a planet that cant take it anylonger, weapons proliferation, and economys such as China expanding way to fast causing massive environmental distruction and the US not cutting emitions in par with the rest of the world. Indeed I hope in the future things get better but I see the world only getting worse as time goes on. With technology you would think the world would come together now that the Earth is getting smaller and smaller (not literally, I know this is an aspie site and some may think thats what I meant ) but instead this technology is being used to seperate people, kill people and fight more wars.

We should go to Mars, where there's water and life somewhere that we haven't found yet....

It's going to get better in about 50 years, when humans are on the brink of extinction...

The world will only get better, when NTs become extinct, and we take over, with our great minds and technology.

maybe we should put it into perspective. every generation believes they are the last, or the worst there has ever been. i dont know about all that but yeah i think the world is in a sorry state right now

I think the world will get worse, because of overpopulation. There are physically not enough resources in the world (including living space) to sustain an ever-growing population. Take Japan for example: their ageing population means they economically need either more babies or immigrants, but there is nowhere to put them, so they're caught between a rock and a hard place. Now picture the same thing in a Third World country. Japan already has a shortage of living space, the south of England is headed that way, parts of the US are headed for water shortages, parts of Mexico already have that problem, etc. The problems in Africa, with their rapid population growth, need no introduction. Note also that the people with the highest birth rates are Third World poor - so that the future gene pool will be dominated by people too irresponsible to not have children they cannot possibly afford (in the past, everyone had loads of children, the elite's children were the only ones adequately fed and so more likely to survive - the current gene pool is dominated by the descendants of the old elites). I haven't watched Idiocracy but it sounds about right.

It's getting steadily worse, and will not get better until after a horrific catastrophe (pandemic, WWIII, asteroid impact, etc) reduces the population to under a billion.

I would say that the world is definitely getting worse -- there's no doubt.
