"Are you a virgin?"

"Is it true you made out with [your cousin] in a church?"

Did I not have money to buy less ugly shoes?

Did I even have a TV?

Did I have cable?

Was my cat my best friend?

Was I autistic?

Was I "authistic"?

Did my mother do drugs when she was pregnant with me?

"Are you afraid of me?"

Among others.

Part of my own special nature is that I have no concept of a "weird" question; if the person asking me the question is displaying an overt uncomfortableness over whatever it is, I might take notice; but generally speaking, there is no such thing as a "weird" question for me; usually I'm delighted when anyone asks me anything at all.

On the flipside, I am infamous for asking what are probably considered "weird" questions, once again probably because I have no real sense of what is weird or not.

I saw a friend/co-worker this morning by the printer; I passed by without saying anything to him, but noticed he was wearing a purple vest over a green shirt; so without saying "Hello." or anything, I poke my head back around the corner and ask, "Were you trying to class when you got dressed this morning?" He was mildly amused, but also a bit put out, and we ended up getting in a debate about the technical definition of what clashing colours are.

Passing by a different co-worker's office, I stopped, stood in the doorway, used my hands to frame him like a photo and squinted at him for a few moments (all without saying anything), and then asked, "If you died your [grey] hair black, do you think you could pass for 30-something?" (He recently turned 60.) And he, being a fellow "weirdo", asked right back, "If I did, do you think I could pick up 30-something chicks?"

Does any of this pass as "weird"? 8O :?

Um... I have to wonder what the answer to that making out with a cousin in a church question is, Ana? I would not put it past you.

Good fortune,

- Icarus is blissfully oblivious...

None of it seems too weird to me. But this is coming from an aspie, so...

But taking those questions from an NT point of view, they're certainly not what they would expect. I'd bet that the "clashing" one would be considered by many to be hostile or confrontational. The "pass for thirty-something" one seems innocuous from an NT point of view, but it would definitely be considered off-kilter.

As for questions that others have asked me...

I don't remember any, seeing as I'm surrounded by other aspies at school! :D

Answer to "Was your cat your best friend?"

Yes, she was! She was much more loyal than most people.

Day one:
"You're some sort of a genius, right?" (said in all sincerity)
Day two, the same person:
"You're ret*d, aren't you?"

Make up your mind!

I've been asked these two things, by the same person, as well.

I've also noticed, that you have 1977 posts. :O)

I'm somewhat curious as to why the second question was asked..

Well...i'm not sure if this is classed as a "weird" question, but at the time, it bewildered me why someone would ask me this.

The question was..."Did you kill your grandmother and hide her body under the floor boards of your house?".

I was asked this when I was at high school by another student.

The particular fellow I asked that of is someone I consider to be a very good friend. And he has earned great credit with me WRT to being able to tolerate my true self, which most humans cannot handle. But in this particular case... Yes, he did seem to take it as a personal affront. (He is highly intelligent, probably smarter than me, but he does strike me as being very "neurotypical".)

And I'll even one-up this situation. Later the same day (today), I was chatting with a second work friend; and I asked him if he thought purple and green clashed. And though I made no reference to him, the other friend wearing the purple and green who I'd asked the same question to was sitting right in front of me, still wearing the same purple vest over a green shirt. (The three of us were in a conference room). And my second friend said something about he wasn't sure blah blah, while my first friend (the fellow in purple and green) said somewhat annoyed that I might not want to ask questions like that when the person you're asking about is sitting right in the same room. 8O Whereas to me, that was the whole point; I do not talk about people behind their backs, and when I happen to, I do not say anything about them that I would not say right in front of them; this is a facet of me that humans seem not to be able to grasp, ever. But once again, my friend in the purple and green looked starkly not amused by the whole thing. And, ironically, the other friend who I posed the question to a second time didn't even notice my other friend in the purple and green until he started complaining. And, really, in all cases the question was really a matter of curiosity, not criticism. When I criticize, I do so directly; when I ask a question, it is because I am curious of the answer; yet another divide between humans and myself.

This other fellow is very probably an Aspie; after this initial question, we actually ended up chatting for quite a while about social difficulties, misinterpretations of things by "normal" friends, sensory integration issues, etc. He responded to the question well, as the serious and genuine matter of curiosity that I asked it as.

Oh, most excellent. My response to this on day 1: "Maybe, in some ways; get to know me, and ask me again some other time.

My response to this on day 2: "Yesterday I was a genius, and today I'm ret*d? So... You can't tell the difference between a genius and a ret*d person? The very sequence of questions indicates fairly clearly who is the ret*d one here. You may go; your two questions for this year are used up. See you again next year."

Good fortune,

- Icarus is in the dubious position of being a genius who is emotionally ret*d (yeah, really - ask any of my friends)...

"How are you?"
I don't know, and coudn't tell you such a complex thing in less than 10 minutes or so.
But then again, you're not interested in knowing how I am, are you?

"What's up?"
A direction?

Brilliant! I wish I'd thought of it at the time... back then my response was
*puzzled look*
"Uhh.... no?"
(To both questions.)

I can kind of understand the person's logic, I'm academically gifted (far from being a genius, though) and socially ret*d.

Why I didn't listen to the latest music.
If I've been stroking myself, lately.
