I'm very computer-inept, but can someone help me create an avatar? I don't even know how to shrink an image to the correct specifications.

Here's some step by step instructions that I wrote with WP specifically in mind.

How to Adjust any Image to be an Avatar for Forums

It uses the Gimp which is freely available software.

for mine i just opened it in paint and shrunk it down to size. it took some trial and error but it worked.

you can shrink it in paint but it cuts off parts of the picture in order to make it smaller

other than that i'm no computer wiz

if you go to image>stretch/skew it won't cut it off it'll just shrink it
