eat in middle of class and no one else has nothing to eat.

When I was in high school, my choir teacher had this rule, if you're going to eat something in her class, you have to share it with the rest of the students because it's rude to eat in class.

No . I think the teachers just say that to be a smarty pants.

I dont eat during class or whatever, I drink a lot of water though.

If you came in eating a Snickers bar and the teach said that and you opened your bag and passed candy to everyone then you'd shut her up and freak her out.

Might be fun :)

Rude is eating something noisy in class, that yes.

Snacking would be one thing, but if your trying to down an entire meal during class I think the teacher is right.

Basically your teacher said this as an excuse, because she doesn't want you to eat in class for another reason.

I didn't think eating in class was permitted?

Wow, sheeyit has sure changed since I dropped out.

Yeah that could have been the reason. She could have had that rule because she didn't want food in class so it keeps kids from even opening their candy or chips or even bringing in their breakfast from Subway or from the cafateria. Only time she couldn't stop them was if they were offering their food to other kids.

I understand if the food is pungent or if it is noisy or messy... but if you're hungry, then you gotta eat. I don't know about anyone else, but oftentimes if I get hungry and ignore the pangs I get dizzy and light-headed. So I'll eat wherever I happen to be. I don't think it's rude, I think it's being prepared. If anyone else in a class feels hungry, they should bring something in to munch as well. I don't think it is feasible for one person to spend his/her life savings feeding a class just because some teacher thinks it's rude to eat alone in class--- besides, not everyone might like my taste in snacks!

If you are in america, a teacher can't actually tell you that you cannot have bottled water and drink out of it in class. Eating is one thing, unless you have a food related medical condition, because usually it is distracting to someone.

I actually did bring 32 candy bars one day to class and handed them out because a candy bar was confiscated before class even started by one of my teachers. so i am probably not the person to ask about this.

Lot of teachers don't allow food in class. Lot of elementary school teachers don't allow food at all except for during snack time but if a child is diabetic, they have to allow the child to have food at anytime when they need it. Same with college students.

It depends--it can be distracting, not just the noise, but the smell, especially if you`re really hungry. Also, what if you spill something on someone else.
I would say don`t do it unless you need to. Most people have to resort to it occasionaly, just like eating on the bus, if you don`t have time to eat in between.

I see how eating in class may be distracting [especially if it's noisey food]. But I don't think it's rude.

I don't know what school you go to, or what schools are like now (I graduated in 1994). None of the schools I went to allowed food or drink in the classroom, even chewing gum was prohibited. All food was to be eaten in the cafeteria or dining hall.

My father is currently a High School teacher and the school he teaches at dosen't allow food, drink or gum in any of the classrooms either.

Forgive me, if I have come across harshly, that was not my intent.
