This is a very, very random question, but I thought I would ask it since there must be someone here who is Italian by origin and/or lives in Italy.

What are the most common names to give to a cat in Italy? I know that in Russian, the traditional names for a cat are Vaska (Vasily) or Murka, but I have no idea about similar names in Italian. I and my co-author needs this for our writing - frankly, the section of the story I am working on at the moment is partly stuck because there is no name to give to my character's cat (I know it might sound odd but that's how it is :) ).

I would very much appreciate it if someone could help with this. :)

My neighbors who vacation to Italy all the time and wish they could live there have left me in charge of their kitties during their voyages. Italian names: Bruno and Simone. They just added Serephina to the bunch. Probably not common names, but Italian cats none the less. ;)

If you want Roman names, how about Agrippina, Claudia, Octavia, Julia, Servilia? There was a children's story about a cat that lived in the Colosseum and was the queen of all the Roman cats but I can't remember the name of the book or the cat's name. You could probably google it under Rome-Cats-Colosseum-children's books.
