Notice half the stuff listed there are things that the parents themselves have direct control over.

Typical blame the corporations mentality. If those dropkicks didn't buy the stuff in the first place there would be no "materialistic" culture.

It's just like parents in the 50s, 60s, 70s, & 80s blaming (at various times) comic books, marijuana, rock & roll, and punk rock for the corruption of their children. I can guarantee that the kids of today will blame the trends of tomorrow for their own children's bad behaviour, without actually looking at their own bad parenting.

We're only a short while away from the next Seduction Of The Innocent (a book from the 1950s that accused comics of corrupting their readers through the use of sexually-explicit imagery... like, say, a giraffe eating an apple. No, really).

It is kind of amusing how many people think this was just a new 21st century phenomenon...as if there were no ice cream vans until 2002? :lol:
