Do any other guys here have a high tone of voice? Or a feminie tone of voice?

Every single damn time I go to give my order at a restruant's drive-through, I am ALWAYS mistaken for a woman. They're always calling me "ma'am." And I can't stand it!!

My older brother used to always have the same problem but he corrected it by adopting a deep falsetto when giving his orders. (we always used to chide him by telling him that he suddenly turned into Barry White at the drive-through window!) I'm always too freaking stupid to remember to do this myself. Which I really should rectify.

So, does anyone else have this same problem?

I have the opposite, they always call me Sir!
and don't talk to me about telephone banking.

I said don't!

I've had that happen, but it doesn't bother me.

always onthe phone they think I'm a woman. it drives me batty. but I ususally don't say anything because when you correct most people it only confuses them more and you have to talk to this annoying person longer than you have to...

I don't seem to sound like a woman to myself I just don't get it.

When I speak I tend to speak in low tone of voice so I get that at times. I raise my voice to normal levels though.. heh... SIR YES SIR.

The oposite. I speak like a tyrant, according to my acquaintance.

My suggestion to you is to put weights on, to make them drop.

I hear that. I can make my college classroom utterly silent when I raise my voice in reply to a teacher. 8)

If it happened to me once or twice, it'd be a novelty. Something to laugh at. But it happens to me ALL. THE. TIME. I've even had a couple of workers do a double take when I pull up to the drive through window. They look at me and for a second I see them look around for the woman in my car who gave the order! It's a little funny, I have to confess.

Worker 1: "Dude, there's this really hot sounding woman taking a order! You have to tell me, is she as hot as she sounds?"
Worker 2: *serves you, waits for you to drive away* "...You're a goddamn fag, Worker one."

Ok, I'll stop laughing at your expense.

I get called, "Sir", all the time. I just take it as a compliment.

We don't use titles like that in Danish thank god. Not that I am likely to be mistaken for a female on the phone, but rather that I would never know which title to call anybody by.

Worse, I've been called ma'am face to face. That's what I get for being fat I guess.

I am an adult female. Over the phone especially, caller will ask, "May I speak to your parents?" I don't think I really sound like a child, but maybe sometimes. There is no witty comeback for this one - awkward silence ensues. I have said, "He's dead." Now, something to the effect of, 'I am the lady of the house.'

I don't think so, but here is a sample of my voice along with my bird playing Risk:

How does my voice sound to you?

I don't think so either.

For myself though, I have heard others tell me that I have a feminine voice. It isn't always like that though.

On the flip side, I'm a female whose voice is sometimes confused for a male's. I guess I mellow out a bit too much sometimes.
