I like to cook things, let them cool and then eat them.

My favourite foods though are things I can cut into semi square peices and eat with my fingers (like fruit and fresh vegitables). Sometimes I eat other things with my figners, but no when anyone is watching.

So how do you eat your food? What way, manner, place?

I don't have any unusual eating habits other than I like to plan it out in advance as far as the exact amount I need at each meal and when I find a setup that works I pretty much eat the exact same thing everyday though a specific thing each for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I prepare most of what I eat myself.

I like chicken, but it has icky texture when first cooked. After a day in the fridge, it's much improved in flavor & mouthfeel.
Hamburgers (made from ground steak, specially ordered & prepared at store's meat counter)-I blot them with napkins/paper towels after cooking, to get excess juices off them-I like relatively "dry" food (not dried food, that's too tough), moisture=grossness, to my palate.

Those are a couple of my peculiarities-there's no single method for dealing with all the foods I consume, what I do depends on characteristics of each item.

Prefer liquid stuff like complan [milkshakes that have all the things needed from one meal] than solid stuff.
Anything solid will eat with fingers to-if it starts off sensory shocks and overload, they're not getting near mouth.

I have to smell things before I eat them, especially if they are new foods to me. My mom doesn't like taking me out to eat for this reason I think... Also if I am making my own food I like it arranged in a certain way. Oh and of course, if at all possible, use fingers.

At home I eat almost everything with my fingers, except messy posta. This has to be served in a bowl, not a plate, or I make a mess on the table. I love my steak almost raw, and I get blood everywhere. Anyone else consume large amounts of meat or other protein?

LOL, well you might try pringles. They're shaped so that you can stack them inside one another since they come in a can. You could fit a bunch of whole ones inside the right coffee mug.

I'm kind of OCD about my eating habits.

In the mornings, I like to eat a banana, a protein shake or even a couple of good hearty sausage biscuits from some fast food place.

Mid day I like to eat a really heavy meal. Some big 2,000 calorie mega burger.

Then in the evening I like to eat a light meal again. A banana. Protein shake. Soup. I feel guilty eating a heavy meal at night. I won't eat after 9 because that's my magical cut-off time for eating anything substantial. I might eat some more fruit or a sweet snack but nothing heavy.

If my food is really hot, I'll cut it up into tiny pieces (especially chicken or roast potatoes) and eat it last.
Also, I hate eating at the table because it's really awkward for me (especially if I'm sitting opposite to someone else at eye level). I prefer to eat either sitting on a comfortable chair with my plate in my lap, or lying face down with my plate just in front of me.

I had a seemingly normal girlfriend who had a major OCD fixation about her meals. Every single plate she owned were compartmentalized. All of them. They all had three seperate sections.

None of her food could touch other food on her plate. It was weird but I respected her food habits just as I hoped people would respect my quirky habits.

One day I thought I'd play a little joke on her by taking a single pea and putting it in her mashed potatoes. I figured she would be mad and quickly move it over. But when she sat down to her plate and saw the pea mingling with her mashed potatoes, she literally had a nervous breakdown. At first I was being a little mean by refusing to move the pea. When I refused, she literally lost her mind and started screaming at me at the top of her lungs. Feeling really embarrassed, I removed the pea. It was too late though. She just kept screaming at me about messing with her food. I tried to apologize to her but she was so angry, she wouldn't calm down. It embarrassed me so bad. I tried as hard as I could to make amends. But for my efforts she picked up the plate of food and threw it at me. There was mashed potatoes and peas everywhere. I tried as hard as I could to apologize but in the end I was so embarrassed that I just left and went home.

That was pretty much the beginning of the end of our relationship. I will never, EVER pull a stunt like that again if I ever find another person with that kind of food OCD.

In order of preference: fingers>chopsticks>knife&fork*

I love chopsticks because they let you read and eat at the same time!

*I'll make an exception for soup...
