Hey everyone! I’m doing a project for IB Business & Management, on AMD Inc., and I thought you'd all have some valuable input for me. I have to solve a business problem, and I’ve chosen to recommend ways for AMD to increase it’s market share. I’ve written up six questions, and I’d really appreciate it if you can take five minutes out to answer them. Cheers guys (and gals), thanks for the responses!

1) Do you have an AMD or an Intel processor?

2) Why do you have this one, over the other company?

3) Do you think Intel has successful advertising? Why?

4) Do you think AMD has successful advertising? Why?

5) Where have you seen AMD’s advertising?

6) What advertising works for you? (Define place, i.e. TV, internet, in games, and type, i.e. humorous)

1) yes (a P1 which is running at ~133 MHz)

2) You don't look into the mouth of a horse which was a gift

3 + 4) nfi

5) nope

6) none. I filter it (software and mentally). If the processors are better , that suffices.

1) Do you have an AMD or an Intel processor?
I have computers with both. My most recent one is Intel.

2) Why do you have this one, over the other company?
I used to prefer AMD for better performance/price ratio, but Core 2 Duo is better than anything AMD has and made me switch back to Intel after loving AMD for so long.

3) Do you think Intel has successful advertising? Why?
Sure, they're on TV :P

4) Do you think AMD has successful advertising? Why?
I'm unsure

5) Where have you seen AMD’s advertising?
Newegg.com, I guess.

6) What advertising works for you? (Define place, i.e. TV, internet, in games, and type, i.e. humorous)
Word-of-mouth. I don't watch TV and I have my browser set up to block 99% of all ads.

1) Do you have an AMD or an Intel processor?
AMD

2) Why do you have this one, over the other company?
The laptop I chose just happened to have an AMD processor, I didn't really think about it. What's the difference, by the way? (And what exactly is a processor? )

3) Do you think Intel has successful advertising? Why?
Yes, even I have heard of them.

4) Do you think AMD has successful advertising? Why?
No, it seems to be invisible...

5) Where have you seen AMD’s advertising?
Nowhere. Or at least not here in Sweden...

6) What advertising works for you? (Define place, i.e. TV, internet, in games, and type, i.e. humorous)
Humorous, on TV.

1) Do you have an AMD or an Intel processor?
I have both. My Laptop runs a P3 Celeron with Geyserville. (its an Itronix GoBook IX250)
my main machines though run a Sun Microsystems UltraSPARC processor.
I just mentioned AMD inthe poll because I do have one cheap AMD Sempron system that also does some workhorse
stuff. Mainly as a 500GB fileserver and VMWare Server.

2) Why do you have this one, over the other company?
Price/Performance mainly it was at the right price and had what I needed

3) Do you think Intel has successful advertising? Why?
They are very well known but I think AMD is getting the jump on them because its obvious to all
that AMD is doing the real innovation today.

4) Do you think AMD has successful advertising? Why?
I think they have successful advertising because thier products sell well as far as I can see.

5) Where have you seen AMD’s advertising?
Computer industry ads, on packaging labels etc.

6) What advertising works for you? (Define place, i.e. TV, internet, in games, and type, i.e. humorous)
Word of mouth and experience using the hardware, product reviews etc.

3) of course, intel has great advertising. they have a larger market share

4) I haven't seen any TV marketing for AMD so I would say maybe intel

5) Yes in magazines, and internet, don't think I have ever seen any on TV

6) on TV and internet, I prefer humorous

1) I currently have an old AMD Athlon 2500XP

2) Because at the time AMD was strong and good value and being the smaller of the 2 its good to support them so they stay competitive meaning intel cant go crazy with their prices.

3) Probably, but for people like myself the advertising dont matter at all. I will buy what people on forums have tried and tested and recommend it to me as the best for what I need. For most people seeing intel on TV commercials while they are considering buying a pc provides them with something to comment on. If they are going to go in a shop with knowledge of the intel processor then they will most likely come out with one.

4) I cant say their advertising is successful until i can remember any of it. Even while trying to think of an intel advert I hear the intel sound in my head.

5) I dont remember seeing any.

6) I am not really a sucker for advertising. Its really an NT thing but I do like the idea of viral marketting.
