Would you run for political office?

With all the stuff that's been going on because it's an election year, I was wondering if any of you out there have ever considered running for political office. I don't think I would for this reason: When you are a politician, your life is no longer private. Any skeletons in your closet become ripe for everyone to see.
What about the rest of you?

No. I don't have the people skills to be an adequate politician or administrator.

No. I am too much of an introvert.

No way, But I would like to be able to pull the strings from behind the scenes or let a front man take all the glory while I make the sensible decisions.

yes- if I had not had children this is definately what I would do.
I love politics and its great at political meetings- the perfect time for interupting and monologueing!
I think politics needs more aspies- more people with strong morals who stick to their guns and are not afraid of doing something different to the social norm.

I would love to run for political office, but I know the majority would vote against me simply b/c I'm an aspie.

I don't think I could deal with my personal life being examined like they do to politicians here in the US. Maybe in a more sensible country where they judge politicians by their professional accomplishments and political viewpoints.

I would only run for political office if "running for office" meant "staging an armed coup"

Have plenty of life experiences that, were they exposed to the savagery of public scrutiny, would ruin my good name. Definately would NOT be able (nor willing) to be politician or official, held to higher standards of "role model" & "no appearance of impropriety". I'm a good person, but that doesn't mean I'd be perceived that way by media & strangers.

Don't like being bossed around & don't like having to be responsible for anyone else, either-am neither leader nor follower. Don't want to have power over other people, though I wish many things about society were different & better (according to my personal beliefs/priorities).

Behaving in fake manner, as one needs to be in order to get elected & exercise power (give favorable impression of self image to as many people as possible), is wholly beyond me. I'm no good at making appearances, putting up good front-am easily discouraged & depressed.

I think people would find it refreshing to have someone honest whos not a fake and I think its good for politics to have people with a checkered past as they are real people and if you hold a "So what" attitude there is nothing anyone else can say bad about you. I think you all should run!

I don't think I can be a politician. It's not in me. I don't have the money, the people skills, the knowledge, the connection, the full understanding or even the willingness.

There were some brief points in my life I did give some thought about making an attempt to run for some offices in my area but after further thought I decided no way.

No, there's no way I could run for a real political office. That requires talking to lots of people, having no time alone, trying to make all kinds of different people react to me in a certain way. Ugh. I'm neither a leader nor a follower.

Conversely, I could run for a silly/imaginary political office.

I wouldn't because I couldn't settle for anything less than absolute power.

I would. I have ideals to support and a message to bring to the people. I actually might, I just worry all the time because of what's going on politically in my country.

My past would never stand up to that kind of scrutiny. And I value my privacy too much. Plus I can't lie very well...

On the other hand, if I woke up some morning and had just become President, I would be thrilled!
