Since I like reading mythology, I was wondering if anyone here with asperger is an fan of mythology. If you are, can you tell me what kind of mythology do you like. What I mean here is if you like myths and legends from a certain culture, wheter it is Norse/Germanic, Classical, etc.

It's about time someone came up with that particular topic concering hobbies. All I ever see are scientific hobbies, TV hobbies, and game hobbies. I'm a huge fan of mythology. I started out obsessed with Egyptian then Greek and now Celtic. I got many books of mythology. I don't think I have a favorite, if I find one that stands out I'll put it down. I don't know why but I have many books concering Egyptian mythology. My favorite one and I don't know why this is, is the resurection of Osiris. I might get in trouble for saying this but Osiris and Isis sometimes remind me of figures in the bible.

As for greek mythology, I might as well also include Roman mythology since they copied from the Greeks. I forgot to put down that I'm also getting interested in "fictional stories" from eastern Europe like Russia.

This topic kind of caught me off guard, I hope this thread stays open so I can refer into my books and name a few.

Germanic/Nordic mythology, Classical and the demonology behind the "levant" religions(Jewish, Christianity, Canaanite, Samarian) some stuff further east where it fits into my interest.

I love Greek mythology - I learnt a lot about it at school (I had a very strong bond with my Classics teacher) and was always keen to read up on it. I have a lot of favourites when it comes to particular stories and legends - Oedipus and the riddle of the Sphinx is a good one: "What has four legs in the morning, two legs at midday, and three legs in the evening?"

Answer: a man (he crawls as a baby, walks strongly when he's in the prime of his life, and walks with the aid of a stick in his old age).

I love mythology in general, and used to read a bit of each in my childhood.

I'm planning on learning more in a course in two years.

I enjoyed reading The Greek Gods, a book we had to read in seventh grade which told the myths in plain English, and also The Adventures of Ulysses, which we had to read in grade 8 and told the Odyssey in plain English. :) I also enjoyed the Good News Bible before I got depressed and I started getting bombarded in my head by the depressing parts.

Some of the stories in the Bible are crazy. For a book that's supposedly full of love, there's an awful lot of blood, death, incest and violence ;)

Read the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Vinland Sagas. I prefer ancient history over the religion of the ancients though, as they did write both and I prefer facts over fiction.
