I'm an adult, but I get the biggest kick out of Webkinz. They are so cute. They are also of comfort to me as I'm mostly alone. At present I have 5. 3 dogs, 2 cats. I like doing things w/them on Webkinz world like cooking, gardening, playing games and dressing them. I really feel like I have companions to engage in stuff with who will only say kind or at most neutral things to me. Once I did feed a food only for the cat to the dog and he said something kind of mean like, "You wouldn't buy that if you had to eat it!" and I was crushed. I know it's Webkinz, but to me it is 100% real. They really are my pets; my family. Do you ever feel that way about something not-real or what I kindly like to refer to as "unconventional"? Since I can't get out, my mom picks them up for me @ a Hallmark store. I started adopting them @ this quiet botique shop where I could sneak out w/o running into screaming kids, but now that they sell Webkinz, guess what?! So my mom has to go for me. I have heard from news reports that adults will play with them when their kids are sleeping Does anyone have that interest or interest in things that are really geared toward kids? I see this as innocent and harmless. I do have interests age appropriate such as what I watch and listen to. Well, now that I think of it, that's another thing. It goes the other way with music. I listen to an era in particular that the older Gen Xers/early Boomers would listen to. I don't feel like mentally I've ever been in 1 place. Only physically.

Wow. Nobody can relate but nearly 50 people have viewed this post. Yet the posts on Bratz, various video games and Anime flash green. 18,561 members as of 4/30/08 and not one of them can relate in some way to what I'm talking about?
I find "fitting in" fruitless in any matter and "relating" not much better. I think no matter what planet I'm on, it won't be the right one for me. Aspies and NT's just don't get me. I must be an undiscovered breed indeed.

Hi and welcome to WP Autistican_beauty
Many of us feel a lot younger than our real ages, and many of us look younger , aaand of course lots of us still love to watch cartoons, I do
Keep in mind that there are many ways to say something, for example that phrase can be said in a neutral tone, in an angry tone, or even in a laughing/ tone! Remember that next time and have fun with your pets

don't worry, aspies don't fit in any group

Yeah, I don't know what anime is, I've never watched it. I only know it's a cartoon show of some sort. I'm 28. I love the old Warner Bros. cartoon shorts with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc... I have 3 collectors Box Sets. In my opinion, those were the best, always will be!! ! I cannot learn how to "auto quote". Have to type what the person said word for word. I've been playing around with it, but all I can do is cut and paste. I do have a keen sensitivity for tone of voice. My mother often tells me I heard what was said completely wrong. Other times she says I was right. In any case, I'm supersensitive, realize most see this as a weakness and hold a fierce defensiveness in reserve. The Webkinz, however, don't even have voices. I read very literally (no pun intended). My mother says I'm a very literal person.

My sons bought me a Webkinz for Christmas so that we could go online at the same time and play the games together (a lil' kinz grey cat). Since then they have completely lost interest in their Webkinz, but I still really like to go on there and play Goober's Lab and Tile Towers.
They bought one for my mom too, and she is totally addicted to the games on there. Which is really cute because she has never really spent any time on the computer before, and used to get all snippy with me about spending so much time playing stuff like Sims and Battle for Middle Earth.
So I agree that Webkinz are really cute and fun, Autistican_beauty. And I think you're right, that a lot of parents do sneak on and play with their kids' pets...maybe they just don't want to admit it?

My favorite Sting song is "Fragile". I like to play "Quizzy's Word Challenge" @ Webkinz World because it stimulates my brain. I don't lose interest in my Webkinz because they are real beings to me. They have needs and feelings that must be met. In turn, they provide company and comfort just like a real pet. I'll take them to the forest preserve and carry them around, and nobody cares, because nobody is around besides my mother who understands. She is NT and treats them real, too. For someone who is NT, she can really sympathize and even think like someone on the spectrum sometimes. She just jokingly told my therapist that she is probably the (genetic) carrier. She does count window panes, she was painfully socially awkward when she was younger and had poor directional sense until my dad helped her learn. Her nursing job helped her with her people skills. She was so painfully shy, yet she always wanted to be a nurse. Her shyness couldn't stop her. Maybe I should do a Mother's Day post. I have had an obsession with certain male celebs. I keep their picture in a plastic photo frame so that I can carry it around, place it beside my bed @ nite for company. It would always be 1 male @ a time. The mind-numbing obsession would last about 2 years and then it would be someone else. I think that is finally (thankfully) stopping. I accredit this to adopting Webkinz and the inexplicable craving for strictly platonic interaction only. I welcome this.
