I have a new piano student. Her father has told me that she has "a rare medical condition", but he didn't give the name of it. I'm trying to find out what it could be.

* She is small: she is nine years old, but the size of a 4-year-old.

* She has very low muscle tone.

* She has poor coordination: she had trouble getting into her shoes (and she put her feet straight into them rather than bending and using her hands) and she doesn't appear to have individual control over each finger on her hand; her way of playing the piano is to lift her whole hand and use the movement of the hand to get a finger onto a key.

* She has speech (articulation) problems.

* I think she has (based on a couple of things her father said) some kind of learning disability.

* She also has bad eczema.

What could cause this? I am curious; I want to know more about it.
