I need a pet skunk!

As a lot of you may know, I absolutely adore skunks and I really want one as a pet. I even live in one of the few eighteen states where skunks can legally be kept as pets. However, my mom is not so open to the idea as I am. Here's the situation: We have three Pomeranians and two cats already. So, you know, none of the pets are big. We live in a large house with a good-sized yard so there'd always be plenty of room. I'm home all day nearly every single day so I'd take care of it a lot. We already have all the safety blockages up for the dogs so the skunk couldn't get hurt either. Anyway, I compiled a list for my mom of reasons why I need a pet skunk. Can you help me come up with even more good reasons? Or just reasons? Here's what I have so far:

1. Skunks are awesome.
2. Skunks are very caring animals.
3. Indiana is one of the legal eighteen states that allow pet skunks.
4. Skunks are sincere.
5. Skunks are intelligent.
6. Skunks love to be held.
7. Skunks love getting pets.
8. Skunks love getting groomed.
9. We can walk the skunk around the neighborhood.
10. Everyone thinks pet skunks are the best (which they are).
11. Skunks are easily litter or paper trained.
12. Skunks can eat just about anything.
13. Skunks are not picky eaters.
14. We’d have the coolest pet out of anyone in the state.
15. Skunks, like me, do not like chocolate.

19. All Things Wild Vet would surely accept skunks if we need to go there.

88. A skunk will not tear up the house like Thai does.
89. Skunks can adapt to any climate.
90. Skunks are curious creatures.
91. Skunks are less maintenance than goldfish.
92. Skunks look fancy.
93. Skunks love playing with toys.
94. You can easily tell if you upset the skunk.
95. Skunks like playing with puppets. I have a skunk puppet the skunk will just love.
96. We can teach the skunk to play fetch.
97. The skunk will enjoy playing fetch like Winston does.
98. Skunks do not need to be taken on walks.
99. If we do take the skunk on walks, it will greatly enjoy it.
100. Skunks are easy to take care of.

What do you think? I konw not all the reasons are very good, but the longer the list is, the more likely my mom will give in after hearing about it enough. Thanks!

I think that you should get a pet skunk.

Go for it; you sound like a responsible pet owner :) just make sure that you:

A) Have it's scent glands removed xD
B) Make sure that it can't destroy anything that can't be replaced (skunks are digging animals I believe)

The pet store that we would get it at would already have it de-scented. I think it's part of the price we're paying for it.

The only think that we'd have to worry about it digging into is the leather couch in the great room (The couch in the living room is blocked off.). However, the leather couch has already survived from the other pets. We can probably put lots of blankets on it so the skunk can't dig into it too much.

I wish it really were that easy. I know how and where to get one, but the only thing standing in my way (the biggest obstacle) is my mom... She is totally convinced we do not need any other pets, which, to some degree, is true. However, like I stated above, skunks are not cats and they're not dogs. So that's better, right?

Well, I've never owned a skunk myself so I really can't say. You don't want an over crowding of pets but you don't want to get rid of any either. I suppose it would be better to add one more than take one away.

Well, my mom's actually thinking of selling Zack since he has all these health issues. And Halloween's gonna kick the bucket in a few years anyway. And we also already gave Snowy away earlier this year. So the over-crowding of pets really isn't too huge of an issue. I think it's mainly because my mom doesn't want to have to deal with extra work. She never believes me when I say I'll take care of it...
