Burmese/Myanmar tsunami relief, the UN and aid

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember anyone coming to the rescue of the US after Katrina or 9/11 like we did for the tsunami in 2004 and the typhoon a few days ago in Myanmar.

As I recall, GW Bush hasn't helped either, I am sure that Canada sent
food and medical supplies and well as emergency aid people down there.
