I had a dream that I gathered a fleet of 12 US warships like aircraft carriers and destroyers and we went back in time to stop the slaves from being collected from Africa and brought back to the Americas. We then set up a blockade in the Atlantic to keep ships with human cargo from passing.

We would instruct the ships to turn back and free them or be boarded or destroyed (enter the aircraft carrier to mount a rescue operation for the innocent victims of the attack.

Do you think if we had the technology to stop stuff like that 400-500 years ago, if we should use it?

Well it sounds like a good idea, but there is the mater of a serious time paradox, wiping out our
timeline and most likely the ship you took back in time to save those slaves, because maybe one
of those slaves ancestors invented or contributed to something in our timeline. Time paradoxes
give me a headache!

This is why I think the theory of alternate timelines (like in the Terminator movies) is interesting...you can go back in time, but you can't be sure that you're in the same timeline as you were before, or that what you're doing will effect said timeline.

Anyway, it was a good way for Cameron to cover his butt with those paradox possibilities ;)

Paradoxes are great, look at Enterprise, alot of their story lines involved them, even Voyager used them to great effect

I find it's best not to try and muddle with time...
