There are many rumors surrounding Patterson Road and the hauntings which occour there. Aside from a major Civil War battle being fought in the said location, rumor has it a girl was raped and left to die near the bridge. Her spirit is said to inhabit the woods, and her screams of agony are, with some controversy, still audible some days. The spirits of deceased soldiers were said to tap the roofs of idle cars. We put together a group of ten and planned a Friday night to investigate this ourselves, driving into a secluded spot right next to the bridge. The following story is my account of what we had experienced there.
Harley, Sebastian, Juju, Brit, Kevin, Holly, Brandon, Gorilla, Joe and myself all arrived at Patterson Bridge between midnight and 2. No doubt I had heard the myths surrounding the area, but I was skeptical about believing it myself. Upon arriving at patterson, we immediately parked alongside the bridge and turned off the lights to wait for the others to show up, hearing the occasional taps on the front and top of the car. I thought nothing of it however, as it could've been anything. When the others showed up, we ventured outside of the car to investigate the area further, splitting up into groups to look for signs with no luck. After 20 minutes and no signs, I headed a bit further down the road looking for something, anything out of the ordinary. Aside from a faint, greyish cloud of smoke I saw nothing. "Patterson is bulls**t," I remembered thinking as I headed back to rejoin with the group. "How could I be so naive, to consider the possibility for a split second that ghosts haunt these woods."
The area was dead. There was a cold breeze blowing through the area and through the silence, an eerie feeling surrounded it nonetheless. The puddle of water in front of the cars, brownish and murky in appearance stood perfectly still and further ahead was a pattern of branches and vines which reminded me of Tarzaan's jungle.
On my way back to the cars, I noticed what looked like a shadowy figure appear for a split second in my periphrial vision. As I turned to confirm this, however, the figure had vanished. I brushed it off and kept on walking, as my eyes have played tricks on me before. However, as I rejoined the group, Brandon, Seabass and many others confirmed the same thing I saw. It made me wonder.
After another ten minutes or so, we split up once again. I headed towards the same spot as before, about fifteen to twenty meters down the road heading west, this time bringing Brandon with me. A little bit over halfway there, Brandon turns to me and asks "Did you hear that? Sounded like a shreik, like nails running down a chalkboard!" I told him it was just my shoe scraping a pebble across the ground. "No, listen!" He told me. We sat in silence for about five seconds and eventually I heard it too. At first it sounded like an animal, like a bird cawing in the night, then it slowly turned into the most blood curdling scream I have ever heard in my life! The longer we stood, the louder it got. I looked towards the bridge to see if anyone else heard it, looking for a reaction, and the rest of the group had already took off running towards the cars. This answered my question.
About halfway down Highway 6, we stopped by a gas station to discuss the events which had occoured there, eventually deciding to go back one last time before turning in for the night. Heading down the road once again, we stood for about five minutes, perfectly still through the dead silence of the woods. Brandon, who has very sensitive hearing was beginning to pick up on faint traces of the sound once again and eventually I heard it too. Very faint, seemingly distant, but still very distinct. It started faint, and once again it grew louder and louder. Once again, the group had took off, leaving Brandon and I behind. "f**k that" Brandon said. "We came back to get to the bottom of this and i'm not leaving until we do." Walking slowly back towards the cars, we saw a white figure following us with every step we took. Kevin and Gorilla headed towards us about halfway and confirmed this visual.
We stared off into the woods beyond the pond of murky water, still as the leaves before a storm. I stared off into the darkness, occasionally seeing flashes of what looked like a pair of yellow eyes, surrounded by a greenish aura. I turned towards Brandon and Gorilla and before I could even ask, they described the same thing as I saw. As we stood in silence, staring into the eyes of the beast, the scream became louder and louder, more aggrivated with each passing second until it sounded as if it were literally right across the way. We started asking questions. "Are you troubled?" "Can you show us your true form?" And the more straightforward question "Are you the girl who got raped here?" We recieved no direct response from these questions, the scream just got continuously more aggrivated, as it had throughout the night. Until we finally asked the right question, "If you can hear us, can you throw something into the water?" About ten seconds later, in the still pond which hadn't moved the whole night, I saw a slight splash, followed by faint ripples. It was enough to convince us, but just to be sure, we asked it to throw something in once more. We stood there silent for a few seconds waiting on a response. Absolutely nothing. And then out of nowhere, we saw a rock coming towards the pond, making a huge splash followed by "Oh s**t!" I look over and see Brandon running towards the car, and feel the tug of Brittney ripping my tanktop as she took off as well. I head towards the car, almost getting my head taken off by Brandon slamming the door in my face in panic and the ten of us took off into the night.
I don't care what anyone says, the events which happened at Patterson were unmistakable. Ask any of the ten there that night what happened and they will all tell you the same thing. It turned the three other skeptics besides myself into believers as well. I can swear on my life I am not making this up and neither are they. Believe it or not, this is our story.
Comments?
I believe you.
I have seen things I can not explain scientifically.
Below are things I have seen, but realized what they were.
The moon can play tricks with fog/mist as light rays are refracted.
Static electricity at night from a distance.
Raccoons are nocturnal.
Ball lightning.

Now... there are some things I have not been able to explain.
I once saw something very large moving along a hill side. It was moving fast. I don't now what it was, but it did not make any noise as it moved. It also was very dark -I couldn't make out any details. It moved in an erratic behavior as well -not something I would expect from an animal on a hill side.
I was in a building that was well lit. Again something caught my eye moving along the ceiling for a moment. I have really thought this one over as to whether it was my eyes playing tricks on me, or it was real. Like I said, I can't explain it.
Once... I saw something very close. It was real. I don't want to talk about it.

I believe you Brandon.
I accidentally clicked "yes" before I noticed the third option
Oops.
Black fog = bad mojo.
I'll probably break my anonymity by telling my stories, but screw it.
I have a whole lot of stories, but I think I'll just share the really big ones.
Sometime in middle school, I woke up early one Saturday morning, and there was a white figure in the corner of my room. Couldn't make out any facial features, but it was very humanoid shaped, and I couldn't stop staring at the head area. It kinda faded as it went down...my eyes darted around the room a bit, trying to convince myself that it was the clothes hamper...nope, the clothes hamper's over there...maybe it's something else...but...there's nothing else over there.
I finally managed to turn on the light and NOTHING WAS THERE. No trick of light, no white objects, nothing. Our dog was standing in front of where it had been, sniffing at the ground, her tail straight up in the air.
A few weeks later I determined the sex of our visitor. I woke up at around 3 in the morning, got up to use the bathroom, and before I get the chance, I hear a little girl giggling right behind me

A couple of years later, I was staying at a friends' house...he told me that his father haunted the place...I don't think he liked me all that much =/ I would listen to his records, and he would knock over photos of himself o_O I wish I could remember exactly what I said, one time we were all sitting at the dining room table, playing Magic the Gathering, and someone said some sort of joke like "Curse your dad.", something like that, I wish I could remember the context...anyway, I took it literally and said "Damn your dad!" and as soon as I did, a small paint can on the shelf behind me fell to the ground, inches from missing my head (everyone looked like this -> O_O). I apologized profusely.
Now I get to the creepiest one, as it has multiple witnesses. There's a cemetary near my house, a friend and I drove through it one night...very eerie place. You just get this feeling, right? So on the way in, my friend notices black fog all over the hill (which I can't see), and he says there's kids playing in it, rolling down the hill and stuff (take note of this). Of course, I can't see anything...I guess I just wasn't "in tune" that night. We stop, and suddenly, I can see this woman...but...I can't actually "see" her, I can only picture her in my mind, like an imagination...but it's different, I'd never had something like that happen before. She looks kind of like one of my great grandmothers, but different...she's very dishevelled, dirty matted hair, filthy torn white gown...I close my eyes and shake my head, and she gets closer O_O I try it again, she keeps getting closer and closer until all I can see is her face. Meanwhile, I'm shouting "OKAY, LET'S GO NOW." Finally we get the heck out of there.
Here's where it gets really weird. A while later, I decide to go ghost hunting with some friends...we go to a few cemetaries, nothing too exciting...we get a whole lot of orbs in photos, we get some unexplainable lights in one photo...we hear some rustling leaves under a tree where there is no wind...we get some weird smells near one grave...get the feeling like we have to leave...nothing too incredibly concrete. So we go to two different ones, and then we're thinking about finding another one to go to...I tell them about the one by my house. I don't tell them what happened there (and they didn't know the friend I had gone with before), but I tell them that it's pretty scary there. I didn't even suggest we go there, I was just telling them about it...I really didn't want to go at all, but everyone else thought it was a great idea

Okay, so we're finally leaving...on the way out, we just happen to be leaving the same way that my friend and I had entered the last time we were there...the driver stops and says "I want to get my camera back out and get a photo of these kids."
I go "What kids?"

She says "The ones over there, rolling around and playing on the hill."

Same exact hill.
It's things like that that make it very hard not to believe.
Oh, a couple of years ago I had my first physical encounter with a spirit.
Middle of the day, I'm sitting in my room, and suddenly I get the urge to turn around, and this little white dog runs towards me, jumps up and pats me on the thigh, and runs under my desk.
I don't know how you can explain things like that scientifically. Obviously there was no dog there.
I've also seen things that look like little black shadows running across the street late at night...too large and fast to be cats or dogs...I thought I was just seeing things out of the corner of my eye, but my friend said he saw them too.
We both agreed they were grues ;D

Yes. It's my opinion that there are entire worlds we can't see. Our senses are limited.. We can't perceive everything. And science is flawed. Just because we can't see ghosts/whatever on a regular basis (why should they prove themselves to us, anyway? especially since they are not likely in the same dimension/plane most of the time), does not mean they don't exist.

I don't believe in ghosts. I believe in a Soul, but ghosts...not really.
There is nothing that denies the historicity of Jesus (aside from what can be considered "miracles" which if untrue still does not disprove Jesus). Santa Claus is nothing more than another name for Saint Nicholas.
I have had a couple of experiences, seeing shadow forms crossing
doorways, once when I was 5 in my house in St Albert Ab, and another
time the exact same thing in Revelstoke BC, they all looked man shaped
but without any surface features, they were pitch black, my mom may
have seen the first one, and told me it was the devil, she was a very
religious catholic lady, but she was also very spiritual and did
believe in the strange and unusual.
Sorry about that video, it looked like the original version, but this was edited, so I have removed it.

Ghosts, like Shrek, Michael Jackson and my avatar, are just imagined things that scare people. Most 'ghost' sightings are probably just unusual natural phenomena, such as tricks of the light or electromagnetic fields. Then again, there are some things that are hard to dismiss and explain away.
Also, LOL at the last video.

I had a very personal thing happen right after my great grandmother's funeral but I don't really feel comfortable about sharing it in this thread.
I don't know if it was a real visit or not but it was certainly weird. I'd like to think it was her.
