What kind of a student are you?

I am a self-taught homeschooler.

Public schools, but I had to learn on my own - teachers and other students confused me.

Public schools with teachers.

Public school with teachers although the only way I was able to learn anything was to do it myself.

I've had a weird variety of schooling. First I did public school. Then I did homeschooling with tutors. Then I did homeschooling at public school. It's a long story, trust me!

i was taught through high school, i guess. i learned everything a lot more quickly than everyone else but i made lots of stupid mistakes because i wasn't paying attention.

in university i'm mostly self taught. i find it difficult to learn in lectures with most profs.

In the past i've been educated at public schools, with a few exceptions (short term courses and tried a private school for 6 weeks but had to leave as it was too expensive).

Soon I am hoping to enroll in a correspondence course, so I will be studying at home on my own. (Homeschool - self taught)

I did use a lot of the set curricula as a basis for things to find out about. I.e. to get introduced to topics I would never otherwise have discovered. Then went and researched well beyond the scope of what was learned in school.

Of course most of that extra curricula paled in comparison to my obsessional interest. But in relation to the original topic I find it hard to learn when someone is "teaching me." Perfect teacher to me would be someone that said "I need you to learn this." And then suggest an introductory text/paper etc... and then just leave me with it.

Probably more on the lines of private/public taught. I never could concentrate with all the small distractions that would go while trying to concentrate. I could never get it to stop no matter what I did.

I also have had hard times with asking questions amongst a bunch of other people and then begin to wonder if mine's really that important.

I do know that I need some motivation when learning something and that motivation I've found comes from being around another person. I'm not so lost or confused when I have someone around.

So I guess I'm somewhat of an oxymoron. I just can't concentrate with clutters of people.
