I found these growing in my basement

Hmmm, I found a lot of basement-fungus pics, including the one below, plus a lot of other nice looking edible ones, believe it or not. It seems that the best way to get rid of them is to get a dehumidifier.

If you have water literally flowing or standing on the floor, I guess that won't help until you stop the influx.

That's REALLY scary! I would recommend getting that checked out by a mold specialist or something like that, as there's a chance that those mushrooms are dangerous!

Had a crop of them in my basement when we bought the house...they like damp basements, garages, concrete, take care of water problems, clean and seal the walls, and keep it dry and they shouldn't come back...at least they haven't here.

In the "original" Super Mario Bros. 2 (released only in Japan) there was a purple mushroom that took a life away.
