I went down to the beach at this evening to get some seawater for my aquarium and I saw a pair of horseshoe crabs holding on to one another swimming along the shore. The one in front must have had a shell almost as large as a dinner plate and had what I thought these little barnacles attached to its shell. If I only had my camcorder to get that on video and put that up on YouTube. I also saw these spider crabs in the water as well. These things are freaky looking.

One day they'll rule the world.

For some reason I have always been facinated with Horseshoe crabs. Perhaps because they remind me of trilobites in form and function which I like collecting. I was once on a geological field trip dredging up whale bones which were deposited just after the ice age. When the net came up not only was it full of bones but numerous horseshoe crabs. It made my day!! !

I'm scared of crabs and lobsters. One time when I was little, my dad bought and cooked a lobster, and my brother took one of the claws and chased me with it. I was so scared.

I'd like to see a horseshoe crab in the flesh, since they look pretty cool.

I'd also like to see a giant isopod up close, too, since they outrank even horseshoe crabs in terms of crustacean-based awesomeness...

On a beach on Jekyll Island (off the coast of Georgia), I found a horseshoe crab that was 3 FEET WIDE, larger than any horseshoe crab I have ever seen. It was dead, and I picked it up because I wanted the shell. Unfortunately, it hadn't been dead for long, and I could hear (and smell) the decaying organs "sloshing" around inside of it. It was nasty.

Come to think of it, I think it may have been a GIANT ENEMY CRAB !

In an aquarium store, I saw live baby horseshoe crabs beings sold for a few dollars each. They were only a few inches wide.
