Why are so many people obsessed with cleanliness?

Not that is not important but there are people that freak out of a little bit of dust in the corner.

These are the same people that pollute their bodies by smoking cigarettes, eating non-organic foods, drinking, think nothing about breathing in toxic chemicals, and think nothing about grabbing a bathroom door handle that probably has feces and urine remnants on it. All way more harmful than a little dirt.

Is it just an image thing or neurotypical illogical thinking?

Yeah...I know what you mean.

My wife has "higher standards" than me when it comes to cleanliness.

Organic foods really aren't better for you as people think. It's just a word that gets thrown around with no real meaning like "Natural" so that food companies can sell a product for more money by convincing the buyer that having that label somehow makes the food better for you.

Hell Tobacco can be both natural and organic. That doesn't mean it's better for you.

Good point.

My post came across a little strong. I am still recovering from my relative causing an incident about cleanliness.

People can live their lives however they want but causing an incident over it is out of bonds.

It is difficult when people judge others over things like autism when they have they their own issues. I know I have been judged over being different.

Sounds like something bad must happen because of this. Is he an alcoholic?

It is funny because few people eat as healthy as I do. Every night I diligently floss and use a Water Pik on my teeth. Shower every day like most. Admittedly my cleanliness around the house is probably is in the 20 percentile.

Yet I guarantee that I would be labeled a little strange due my lack of cleanliness.

End of rant.

to answer the OP's question- because stinkiness sucks. I've been around, in my vocation life, some stinky stanky situations that took all my powers to avoid succumbing to violent illness. some of my coworkers were not so lucky, one passed out from the stench, one kept retching until they sent her home sick.

We'd better not ask you to supply any more details!

I'm a non smoker too. I can't stand the smell of old cigarette ash! Had a bad time a number of years ago when I had to share my office with a heavy smoker, he was 49 but lost ones and moved like someone of 70. Luckily it was not long before all smoking in public places indoors was outlawed by government legislation.

just the same, since I am alone with only me and myself as company :alien: :alien: I generally don't bathe unless I have to be somewhere around other people, then out of consideration I will bathe thoroughly. :eew:

Some people are just natural born "neat freaks". In some or maybe a lot of cases it's probably an ocd type thing.
