Why do you hate music?

And dont say "because its bad", that I have heard before and I dont agree.
I listen to everything, there are no limits, but I often hear people saying
that they hate on or two type of music.

It would be interesting to hear you describe what it is thats not good. Because
to say that one type of music is bad, is just bad. Theres always someone
somewhere who like what you hate, and you are no more right than that person.

So, whats with the "hate" What have music done to you? Why does it "feel" bad?
I love it all, everything. No hate towards music from me.

Personally I don't hate any music, but I prefer some much more than others.
It also depends a lot on my mood.

Sometime I love classical music and listen to Beethoven, Mozart and other classical pieces. Other times I like more contemporary classical stuff such as Rautavaara - but I know this is way off the wall for a lot of people who find seagulls squawking to discordant music too disturbing.

I also love electronic rave dance music such as Orbital. I've always enjoyed electronic stuff right back to Pink Floyd days.

Depending on the mood I also like heavy rock, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Motorhead and have seen lots of bands live.

On the dislike list I'd add Elvis, most Eurovision song contest songs and songs with crass lyrics such as "Tie a yellow ribbon", or the "Birdie song" they just make me cringe. While I don't exactly hate them, I'd avoid listening to them.

I'm not keen on Country and Western either, it just sounds so damn depressing "My girl left me, then I ran over my dog, oh I'm miserable now blah blah blah" - It's enough to make you slash your wrists.

I don't hate, persay. I just dislike. Rap and country to be exact.

Rap... I just couldn't get into the cursing. And it's really just not my type of music. It's kind of what people listen to when they want to act cool. Not me, I know rap isn't my thing and I'm not going to pretend it is.

Country... Has been going downhill. They barely ever play what I consider to be the best country song ("Concrete Angel" - Martina McBride) because when I still listened to it, they were just playing bouncy, happy stuff with no intelligence in it. Give me some sadness. And I don't mean whiny sadness. Concrete Angel, God's Will, maybe even Alyssa Lies. And then we'll talk.

Also, male country singers sound drunkish to me. Not being sexist, some female country singers sound drunk too.

But I like pretty much everything else.

it's funny how some black rap fans call rap part of their culture. I don't ever see people in Africa listening to it and getting all thug on people.

In fact, it's my understanding that a lot of Africans are really quite peaceful. How about adopting peace and harmony as their "culture"?

Because it's bad and annoys me is a good enough reason for me. Your agreement is not needed for me to reach an opinion on this issue or any other. Why would my taste in music concern you so much?

I was hoping someone would mention rap, becuase I know a lot of people dont
like it because of the "reputation" and cursing, and I understand that, to me its about the music,
the tunes, so I ignore the "package" around, its not important to me. (just my feelings, not saying I`m right or anything, maybe someone misunderstood me.) I dont think its bad to listen
to everything, but theres a strange "vibe" against that here. I dont understand it. Sorry if I made a dumb thread, just wanted to discuss music, nothing else. Why would I want to limit
myself to some spesific things, that makes no sense (to me, my feelings, not a recepie).

Well I'm a huge music fan. I used to hate certain music when growing up. But I started getting into other types of music besides alternative and then it progressed from there.

It's strange how I've gotten into some many generes of music espeacially ones I used to hate like old forms of country. I was never in my life a country music fan but I love old country. I think my grandpa who does bluegrass made me appreciate the sound and the accoustics of it all.

Most of the hate for the unknown, I believe can come from peer pressure and society. However I was pretty young when I started getting into much music. I used to and still do hear people my age say they can't stand this type of music or that type of music. Sometimes I can understand because they're either not music people or it's just not in their interest.

You wouldn't believe how many period pieces of music alike and then music from around the world. It's gotten beyond what I used to like. I'm still progressing when I hear or see music videos of other people's genre of music.

I don't hate music, but I do hate certain types of music. I particularly hate R'n'B and Hip-hop as I think they are annoying and pointless. To me they all sound very similar, have similar meanings and it's getting boring. We know that there are ghettos and gangs who think they're great, who have sluts hanging around them like flies wearing very little clothing, we don't need telling more than once, we get it!! ! P.S. To all you sluts that are stupid enough to stick around, the guys like to go to seedy hotels and get off with some white trash slut they met after they proposed to you (I am white by the way in case anyone thinks I'm being racist). You're wasting your time!! !!

Yes, exactly like that. That is what I have experienced also, and keep experiencing.

Yes, I understand. But then you are listening to the lyrics. I mean music, the "tune".

Rap = Bad electronic music with childlike poetry "sung" over top of it.

Rap music got it's sound from the German electronic band 'Kraftwerk'. If you listen to 'Kraftwerk' and listen to rap afterwards you will see the similarities. In the late 70's all the rappers who came out were heavily sampling 'Kraftwerk's' music.

The only difference is that 99.9% of the time the music in hip-hop sounds inferior to 'Kraftwerk'. 'Kraftwerk' actually knew what they were doing when they were producing music. That's why their music doesn't sound amateurish unlike most hip-hop.

Every once in a while you hear a rap song that has an alright beat but it ends up being ruined due to ret*d childlike aggressive poetry.

Yes, almost all music conects somehow, in some point in history.
Is there someone who just dont think about what the rap-boys talks
about if the beat/tune is good? To me, there is no problem with
language/"dirty" music. I`m in it for the tunes. If I want information,
I read, I dont listen to rap music for example for that. I listen to rap
music for the tunes, could not care less what they talk about. Thats another
thread, this is a music-thread. A "tune" thread, lyrics are not important.

I`give up trying to explain it now.

I wish I knew why people write things like this, and then turn around and dont
answer questions. Is it only to confuse? Whats up with that.
