I just passed my job interview (and with flying colors, I must add). They're gonna call me Monday or Tuesday to give me my store hours. This is my very first job and I will be working in the Deli area at a nearby grocery store. Plus I get to wear an apron! Who wouldn't like that? But anyway, I'm very excited! My best friend applied there as well and since her mom currently works there, she's a shoe-in. This is going to be great!

BTW, the lady interviewing me said I reminded her a lot of Lola off of "Charlie and Lola". As some of you may know, I love that show! :D

First of all: Congrats!

Secondly: Oh the stories I could tell, the stories I could tell. I worked in a deli twice. The first time in a mom and pop store, in a small town where everyone knew everyone, and most people actually cared about doing their job right. (Amazing I know). And we had time to keep everything clean to CA Dept of Health standards. The second time was not so fun. Worked for a big corp (Kroger), no one gave a d**n about their work/keeping the back clean, and the management treated everyone like crud. I ended up leaving that job pretty quickly.

Oh, and if you ever have to pick something off a stove/take something out of the oven don't forget the oven mitts! (I did once and amazingly didn't get burnt.)

Thank you!

Around here, things will probably be a bit different. This is a rather large area and all people really want is to just get something over with quickly. I know I'm certainly no exception! My mom and I recently visited a small town and we couldn't stand how long it was taking us to wait in line for one customer who couldn't decide on anything. Eventually someone checked us out after ten or so minutes. But like I said, I think everything here will work out. 8)

Hey at least I didn't mention cash registers and making change! :) That was another reason I had to leave that last deli job, I can't make change fast.

Luckily for me, I won't be working the cash registers.

if you're working with a meat grinder you could lose some fingers.... but you probably won't be working with one of those so don't worry about it.

and congratulations, i hope it works out. my first job was at a go kart track, that was really fun because the people working there were pretty fun to hang out with and we had a lot of down time.
