I have been obsessed with Fighter Planes ever since I was 5 or 6.
Am I just a victim of the Top Gun generation?
Possibly, although I have a few acquaintances who have been in the military so it makes it more interesting on a personal level for me.

Anyhow, this is an awesome link to some pretty detailed histories of some of the most impressive and also some of the whackiest planes used by the British Royal Airforce.

If you have any cool links with planes from other countries I would appreciate it.
I am going through another war phase.
I think it's the result of late night History Channel binges!

Both my parents were in their early twenties during WWII so I heard a lot about it , and this has been one of my interests since late childhood. Tanks and aircraft, mostly.

On History Television (Canada's history channel) quite a bit of the programming has to do with the World Wars. We had a Dogfights series not long ago, and the subject was air wars from WWI to the Bosnian conflict. (Iraq and Afghanistan are mostly ground conflicts involving terrorism and guerilla warfare).

Your country suffered a lot of nazi bombing raids during WWII. My father, who was with the RCAF, was stationed at an air field (must find out the name) that was regularly bombed up until 1944, when the nazis unleashed those V1 and V2 rockets, targeting civilians.

Yes the RAF had interesting planes it is funny though their naval aircraft were the same things that RAF had just modified for carrier services. The U.S. and Japan were pretty much ahead of its time in carrier warfare. The Royal Navy actually bought from the US carrier based planes like the Hellcat, Avenger, Corasir and Wildcat (Divebombers I'm not sure but more than likely they were) You wonder why the Japanese-American Pacific was most battled out between the U.S. and Japan. Still the rise of the aircraft carrier to become the center of a fleet was amazing in a birth of fire.

I love fighter planes as well. One time when I went to Phoenix to visit family, we visited an actual fighter plane museum, it was amazing! My favorites were definitely the macho-looking F4 phantom and a restored Fokker Triplane.
