I don't know about you, but my avatars seem to affect me subliminally.

I listen to a lot of music and have a lot of different favorite musicians. I chose Gram Parsons because there are a lot of pictures of him smiling, and I wanted to have a happy-looking avatar. And he was a good song-writer, and I'm obsessed with song-writing. And country-rock is one of the many genres of music I like. And he played an important role in the history of music, blah blah blah.

But anyway, since I've had this avatar, I've felt compelled to buy any Gram Parsons record I encounter, and I listen to these records every day. And today I bought the DVD about him, which is significant because I own a total of 4 DVD's. So my avatar is creating an obsession.

My snake avatars weren't much better. They reminded me to obsess over snakes. At least I'm no longer spending hours each day looking at snakes online.

Has anyone else noticed the subliminal powers of avatars?

I get a subliminal feeling from others but I don't think I do from mine.

I still think in terms of music and art, it doesn't have that superhero or powty effect.

I chose this avatar b/c I like illustrations esp. from comic stories but haven't gotten into illustrating lately. So I guess it isn't working. I do notice that some avatars like Digger's do give me a weird subiminal touch of humor. Reminds me of a very cute baby saying things you wouldn't normally here a baby say.

I want to spend some time learning how to re-size and re-locate photos, among other computer operations. I just haven't got around to it yet. I would like an avatar that has some connection, to me. Eventually..... :chin:

I use Google Image Search and then I drag the image from the results page (where the images are displayed in a small size) to my desk top. This is how I get small images to use as avatars.

I've resized images in more conventional ways, but it takes more time and is annoying.

<--- It makes me feel good when I choose not to get dudded up, which is usually on days I know I'll stay home; which are my more depressing days so it's doing a good job :D

^ <3 the cat ones you had and then the Audrey Hepburn.

It's amazing how some people that change their avatar don't make a huge change but yours really does some changing I think that's interesting.

I'm not sure what effect my avatar has on my posting style or behavior. The Fred Flintstone was picked by default from what was available at wrong planet because this is the first forum I ever posted on. When I got tired of having a default avatar I went looking for Cate Blanchett as Galadriel or James Woods as Max Renn from Videodrome (by coincidence Debbie Harry also had a part), but could not find anything satisfactory. While doing that search I found my Deborah Harry avatar which I like a lot, she remains one of my favorite singers after 30 years of listening to her. :D
