I sure miss Smelena
I am in contact with Smelena. The reason she is temporarily away is to work on her new in-depth website (plus raising her family and ongoing career too).
This is precisely WHY she's taking a leave - nothing weird, I assure you. Her website design is time consuming and she's putting in a lot of effort! Smelena will be back - no worries.
I think everyone loves Smelena; she knows Auties/Aspies - this is why she's designing her website! (No covert reason(s))! !!

I rember when she used to post on here. She is nice and understanding person. I am glad she has her own website so I would say it was nice having her here, but I think missing her is not how she would want us to feel. Besides you can always visit her website ![]()

Hello everybody,
Thanks for your lovely posts.
I've been working on my website but had to stop due to early carpel tunnel syndrome signs (nerve entrapment in wrist leading to lots of pain). Also I'll confess to 'scrambled brain syndrome'. Having to learn to write in computer language - aaargh! I'll never work in information technology - I don't have the attention to detail required.
Earlier this year at work I gave a talk about Asperger's at work. Now about 1/month I get pulled over in the corridor with people telling me about a friend/relative who has just had a child diagnosed. It's been nice to be able to give out my website address (and WrongPlanet of course).
I'm really proud of the youtube video LabPet and I made together.

If you look through the comments, it's been great for parents to watch and LabPet has been providing great insights to parents.
Youtube is another great way for families to connect.
Update on my family:
My oldest son (Aspie) turns 10 in a couple of weeks. He did well at school last term academically and also made a couple of new friends.
My second son (Aspie) is 8 and did well academically at school last term. He also made a couple of new friends.
We had a rotten start to 2008 with a horrible Special Ed teacher. They boys were transferred to a different and fantastic Special Ed teacher in April and they've made great progress since.
My third son turned 5 today and we're having a special birthday dinner - fish and chips at his request. He starts school next year.
I'm still working 2/week as a physiotherapist at a major public hospital. I'm bellydancing every week and continuing Taekwondo with my oldest son.
My husband got promoted this year and he's enjoying the extra challenge of his job (civil engineer). He has a nasty foot injury and will probably be out for the rest of this soccer season.
That's it.
I'll drop in occasionally to say hello.
Thanks LabPet for e-mailing me and letting me know about this post.
Regards
Helen

Welcome back, we missed you!
^ Great video! The description of LabPets AS, is almost an exact match to my situation. If I were more in touch with my thoughts/feelings, I could have wrote that myself, with my name substituted for hers.
I wish I could say those things to my psychiatrist, but I go blank everytime I get the opportunity. ![]()

Hi Smelena, it's SO good to see a post from you!! !
I LOVED the video you and Labpet made. The music was synchronized perfectly in spots I thought.
Glad to hear your all doing well and that you were able to resolve the Special Ed teacher situation.
I really do miss you and your optimism and positive advocacy information. Your inspiring to a lot of people I would think, and to me for sure.
Hope you'll post more, hope the carpal tunnel is less debilitating now, and that we'll all hear more from you soon.

Yeah! Smelena came for a visit! See? She's not been abducted by aliens
Sorry about the injury problems though.......I guess being a phsiotherapist can be quite convenient, yes?
Thank you for sharing my video too ![]()

Thank you jawbrodt. You could pretend to be me, but that would be confusing to your psychiatrist, I promise!
