I've shot quite a few pheasants throughout the years and ate every one of them. They are an excellent tasting bird, and so is ruffed grouse. :)

I have never tried pheasant but it sounds like it could be pretty good.

Never had pheasant before, but read a book by Roald Dahl called "Danny Champion of the World," in which a some part mentioned hunting pheasants. Maybe I've confused it with another book, but thanks for bringing back the memories of an old book regardless.

The Game Commission stocks them around here, so you can kill them. You are allowed to shoot them, as soon as they are released them from the trucks They expect you to kill them. If you don't, the foxes eat them all. It all a money game.If they double the price of the hunting license, you will be able to shoot 2X the game. I haven't hunted in 3 years, but is normal life in this part of the country.

Well..i`m not so big on meat. All meat taste pretty much
the same to me, meat is meat, be it cow, dog, rat,
birds or human. Having some trouble eating things like
a big bloody steak, it always reminds me of things i`ve
seen laying dead in the road after getting hit by cars, not
very appetacing. Dont like the taste, hear some say it taste
different depending on what kind of meat it is, but i haven`t
experienced that myself, its always a greyish-brown chewy
mass of blood and stuff, it all tastes the same to me, not
very good, not a real flavour really, just a weird taste of flesh.
Never eaten pheasant, probably never will :) and quite happy
with that.

But people have always told me i`m "weird" when it comes to food,
for example, i love to eat the skin on the kiwi fruit but not the inside,
dont like the taste of that, still haven`t met another human doing
this :) they all say the skin taste like crap, i beg to differ :)

a pheasant is a bird, like a chicken that can fly, and they live everywhere around here, they taste much better than a chicken though

I would eat pheasant, could cook it too, but I draw the line at actually killing or cleaning it. I'm too soft hearted & couldn't take the life of another warm blooded creature, even if it meant going hungry vs being satiated. Except for fish...I have no trouble dealing with catching/cleaning/cooking. But they were all small fish, trout, catfish, or blue gill. I've never fished for anything bigger, so I don't know if I could deal with killing/cleaning of something like a tuna or swordfish, etc. I have eaten quail & quail eggs, & tried some venison.

I have shot, butchered, cooked and ate dozens of pheasants in my life. Ruffed grouse is the best game bird with pheasant a close second.

I wouldn't shoot one, but if they appeared in the grocery store I would certainly buy one. Unlike chicken or duck, pheasant is predominantly white meat, and is about as 'gamey' tasting as Cornish Game Hen

I think I've actually eaten pheasant before at some point. From what I know of the meat, it's quite a dark colour and is (obviously) rather gamey in its texture.

Would I eat it again? Sure, why not?

That wasn't Pheasant. Sandhill Crane and Ruffed Grouse have very dark, very gamey meat, though I don't think you'd have access to them in the UK. Guinea Fowl, or something local, perhaps?

Oh god I am hungry, first Digger mentions hunting elephants and I think Flintstones ribs, on the BBQ, now I want pheasant, we use to get them coming into our back yard, and I would occasionally peg one off with a slingshot, they're too easy to hunt. I also love spruce grouse and real easy to clean, they tend to be a little dry, and need to be wrapped in bacon, mmm bacon wrapped birdies
