What charities/causes are you involved with?

Mine are the Humane Society and the ASPCA, which are linked in my sig. They are organizations dedicated to ending animal cruelty, and also lobby for anti-cruelty laws. I always feel good when I get done writing a letter to my legislators, as animal rights is my passion.

What charities and/or causes are all of you involved with? What kind of organizations are they and what are they trying to achieve?

Nothing currently...kind of makes me a little guilty sometimes. I used to be so heavily involved in volunteer work that I almost let it take over my life. I have trouble saying no. I have since gone cold turkey. I still cannot turn away homeless people or the neighborhood kids knocking at my door. How can I say no to that? Now a days I'm just more the type to be charitable to someone I can just see needs help. It is good to see you are active in such good causes. I have a soft heart for animals too.

I am a member of ALIVE, a group campaigning for abolition of the death penalty. The group campaigns mainly in the USA and occasionally elsewhere. We already managed to save a few lives during the last years. I guess if you consider abolition of capital punishment a good cause or not, depends if you agree with me or not when I say that I consider capital punishment wrong in every single case.

am a supporter of BUAV http://www.buav.org/ ,and have been since childhood-they campaign against animal experiments.
am a member/service user of NAS http://www.nas.org.uk -the UKs biggest autistic support charity/organisation.

I contribute to Sense,a charity that helps children who are deaf or blind.I've also responded
to emergency disaster campaigns but it's difficult because you can't give help to everyone that
deserves it.

I ride my bike in the bike-a-thons for a couple of the places here that give services to people who are on the spectrum. I rode for "The Hope Foundation" this year and when I go to The Arc I always purchase pottery that was made by people there, one time when I was leaving this guy who was at least my age saw me carrying out a piece of pottery and I heard him yelling "She bought mine, she bought mine." I could hear how happy it made him so now I always buy something and will even make a special trip out there to get one. They use all the money to support their arts program.
I also make sack lunches and ride my bike around and give them out to homeless people who are on the streetcorners or bike trails.
I want to start either a bike ride for autism or get a park (with a fence and wheelchair swings) for all the disabled kids here. That would be great if I could let my daughter run rampant in a park and not have to worry about cars or have to explain to other parents that shes autistic when she starts screaming for no reason.
