So I'm half-bird, half-dinosaur now? 8O

I never know what I'm going to learn on WP!

I thought the Deinonychus was basicaly a larger version of the veloceraptor, and was basicaly what was seen in Jurasic park. Hey did you know the Veloceraptor was proved to infact have feathers, it has been stated that to us it would infact look like a strange looking bird.

Here's the proof supposedly:

I find it interesting, I checked wikipedia and stuff a while ago and found that meant that a lot of my much loved dinosour books were now incorect. And I had so much loved some of the pictures in the books, some of them had wonderous pictures of what the veloceraptir was suposed to look like and I thought it was cool. And one of the last pictures in the book stated that there were some rumors that it might of had feathers, and though the ones in Jurasic park are too big, in the third film they had more bird like feather things. I heard they were makeing a Jurasic park 4, I liked the other 3 and I am wondering if recent discoveries will change what the dinosours look like. The thing that gets me though is that the ones in the movie are like deinonnychus and the deino.... the one which means terible crest is closer to the size of the veloceraptor.

I think you mean the dilophosaurus. "Two-crested lizard".

Wouldn't feather's make it hard to warm up if the are cold blooded?? Seems like this could be more proof dinos were warm blooded not cold blooded.

It is worth noting that velociraptors were the size of turkeys, deinonychus was the size of a wolf. The only raptor of comparable size and form to the ones in Jurassic Park is the Utahraptor, I think.

Or a young allosaurus.

I think the size was held constant, but they decorated it and made the head of the raptor look a bit different. Otherwise it was the same as the 1st and 2nd movies.

Or a young allosaurus.

Allosauruses are carnosaurs, while raptors are dromaeosaurs.

I rather was into dinosaurs as a kid, and the blatant misrepresentations really bugged me in that movie. Aside from the raptor issue, the fact that dilophosaurs were displayed as small predators was quite bothersome (they were among the largest predators of their time at 20ft long, and as such an intimidation frill and venom seems completely out of place to me).

Fortunately for Spielberg, movies are rarely factual. So, he can just blend in to the crowd.

Also, some interesting deviations from the book: John Hammond was eaten by compys; Genaro, in an underground tunnel with Alan Grant, crushes a velociraptor against the tunnel wall after it jumped onto his back.

But the movies were cool, and they were suposed to be mutants to the original dinosours, one thing I am not sure of is how well the spinosauros would have whant against the trex as the spinosauros was primarely a fisher, which is why its jaw was shaped like that.
