I was called in about 10 minutes after I arrived but didn't get to see the doctor for another hour and a half because the nurse was an idiot. I had papers from the insurance company that the doctors need to fill out - all they needed to do was state that I hadn't been treated for epilepsy in the past 5 years. However the nurse didn't read the instructions that related to the 5 years part.

So after she struggled with a way to get around the pre-existing condition clause for about 20 minutes she ran back and told me that I needed to have the last doctor who treated me for epilepsy fill them out - That didn't make any sense. For one thing they were specifically asking this doctor if she had treated me. And as I pointed out to her the last time I saw a doctor for this was in 1999. I'm sure it also would have raised huge flags at the insurance company if I had a pediatric neurologist send in a statement saying I hadn't been treated for epilepsy when I was 21-26 years old.

So she went back to check on this, and another 20 minutes she comes back and says I shouldn't have them fill out the papers because I'll lose my insurance when they write that I'm being treated for a pre-existing condition - umm No, I'm not. Pre-existing conditions are only those that happened in the past 5 years. I was ruled to have outgrown epilepsy 9 years ago.

In the meanwhile the doctor called in and saw 5 other patients - I know because I could hear part of their appointments through the walls.

Finally I got to see the doctor. She told me she took a picture of my EEG because it was glaringly obvious that I had temporal lobe epilepsy, my symptoms were a perfect example of temporal lobe epilepsy, and ever doctor I had seen, including the previous neurologist, had told me that nothing was wrong with me.I do hope she shared that picture with my previous idiot neurologist who said I couldn't possibly be having seizures- they have offices in the same building just a few feet from each other

She upped my dosage so hopefully I'll stop having seizures every day. And she said with what she told the state I might not lose my drivers license. She thinks I'm safe to drive but its ultimately the states decision (and I definately won't be driving until the daily seizures stop)

I'm glad that your problems have been properly recognised by your doctor and hope your treatment to reduce your seizures is effective.

Best wishes,
