ha ha ha! nice. although i never understood how they can call it piracy. y' need a ship to be a pirate! ask any real pirate! they'll tell ya. oh and as for those nigerian pirates. pah! pirates my butt! no pirate uses a gun as his main weapon. its a sword and a pistol else y' aint a real pirate! :).

Accents just kind of evolve over time and become a mish mash of other accents that come together. I'm from Pittsburgh and while I like to consider myself educated, I can't tell you how many times in a day I use the words "n'at" and "yuinz".

This thread has inspired me to download the game 'port royale 2' . (ive already finsished Sid Meier's Pirates! on the highest level, otherwise id play that again).

The BBCs 'Blackbeard' is a great 'real' pirate film. I might have to watch it for the 4th time...

Sid Meiers Pirates! (the later, 3D version) is a fantastic game - the sort you can get lost in for a week or 2. 8)
Its been out a few years so you could probably pick it up for a few £ if you dont want to d/l it.

I think theres a sort of unofficial MMO version too.

Oh wow, i just had monkey island flashbacks :D i played
it on a amiga 500 or 1200 and it was on disks, 12-10 disks
