where do fruit flies come from?

OK I've been wondering about this for a while now and I'm a bit stoned and can't be arsed to google it. I bet there's someone here who likes bugs tho so here goes:

every time I leave some fruit juice or an empty beer can or whathaveyou overnight on the kitchen table, the next day I find a little bunch of fruit flies munching on it. even though I keep my windows closed and they are very well isolated against all light and noise.

how do those creatures get there? do they just materialise?

Maybe they come FROM the fruit??

That is a big source of getting fruit fly's, they also lay eggs in house plant soil.

I'm not really a banana person so we can rule that out.

I don't have any plants either.

do they sit inside all other fruit as well?

hmm good question.. in the middle ages they thought that rain drops turned into flies if it landed on fruit or something.. i dono they had some f****d up belief.. but i have found myself wondering the same thing.. like how do they know when food is going bad, they must have a good sense of smell?.. who knowws.. but someone said they lay eggs in thigns and i guess that makes the most sense..

yeah and dragon tears as we all know turn into jellybeanz!! LOL

it's weird cause I wash all my fruit and veg, keep it all in the fridge (won't they freeze in there?I mean the eggs) and never noticed any of those little bas***ds until the things went off...

Fruit flies lay eggs in/on fruit/food, especially bananas
so they come with the fruit. They lay their eggs
near the surface of fermenting foods or other
moist, organic materials. Eggs can survive the
freezer and wake up again

Btw, anyone know how much insectparts and
such there is in lets say 5 kilo of strawberryjam?
its alot! for some reason people think its 100%
clean but thats impossible, some bugs always
gets in - so just eat and enjoy, no point in wondering
if there is bugs in there, it is

See theres some Polish people here
I actually picked up two hitchhaikers from
Poland a few weeks back, a couple - very nice
people, didnt car-jack me or anything

yeah we're not ALL insane, it's just me

btw I understand Norwegian pretty well so be careful around me LOL
