I am wondering if anyone from WP is evacuating out of the area, I am worried for all of you.
Take care and be safe.

I am 100 miles inland, but my parents are in Houston, and they're going to ride it out.

I was caught up in the evacuation from Hurricane Rita 3 years ago.

I do know that the reason hurricanes are deadlier and more destructive is because more people are living on the coast.

The majority of the world's population lives along the coast...or along rivers...streams...lakes...
And lots of people are moving away from the coast - inland quite a ways - for several different reasons.
I think what makes hurricanes more dangerous is the fact that people cannot predict exactly what the hurricanes will do and hurricane intensity could increase more in the following years. I will also add that the deadly destructiveness of hurricanes is partly the result of people who decide not to get out of the way.

The National Weather Service wrote:
All neighbourhoods and possibly entire coastal communities will be inundated during the period of the peak storm tide.

Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single family one- or two-storey homes will face certain death.

Now that's how you say things.

We are amusing ourselves by making youtube videos, but I don't know how many more we will make before the power goes out.
I peeked out the door and there was a big green flash and the the power went out...it came back on here but not across the street. The power goes out really easily here anyway....since that first time, it has gone about 3 other times...but not in a while.
Currently it does not seem like there is anything going on outside because we are in a big fortress with no windows.

Next we are doing "Rock me Ike the Hurricane"
